I don't know if this will be of any help, but I took my sin to a very large parking lot on a weekend when there were no other cars until he at least got a feel for how fast the car accelerated and braked, and could make wide turns without consequence. Then you can try to use the parking lines to simulate road lanes until he has control of the steering. I didn't get on the road until after he had some behind the wheel experience with a real teacher.

Are you trying to say something about how your son was conceived Ret??  ;)

When I was a teenager there was something in MN called a "Farm Permit"- at age 15 you could legally drive (alone) during daylight hours as long as you were on "farm business"- picking up parts from the tractor dealer, that type of thing. I always kept a broken U-joint in the trunk of my Camaro in case I got pulled over when I wasn't really on "farm business"  :o

We had a farm/school permit in Iowa as well (didn't have to be daylight hours though). I was pretty creative at finding 'routes' from my house to school. For some fortunate reason, my friends all seemed to live along those providential routes!   ;D

"I am not a smart man, but I know what love i-is."

Friday night Forest Gump on the tube. A good movie. I always wonder why it gets such a bum rap. It's easy to watch and has a good message. But then I still tear up at the end of Ol' Yeller.

I wasn't aware it had a bum rap?  It is one of my favorites...was on vacation down in Savannah a couple of years back and they made sure to point out the square that he was sitting in while we were on the walking tour (the bench was just a prop and is now in the tourism center).

It won best picture that year, and Hanks got best actor, also won for best director...

Are you referring to all of the quotables that it produced that are mostly applied humorously?

Maybe it's because I've been here so long. It could be that Aussies are a a little cynical of the movie and I'm just remembering that. Or it could be the Brits I've worked with over the years who are cynical about everything.

But I really like the movie as well. My favourite bit is when Captain Dan meets Jenny for the first time and doesn't say a word to her. She's a leach and Forrest is a giver. Captan Dan is polite enough and grateful to Forrest enough not to say anything but honest enough not to lie either. So he stays quiet. That may not be what's really happening in that moment but it's what I read into it (revealing a little about myself, I guess).

I know you guys are wrapped up in talking about driving on the farm at 14 or 15 years old and drinking beer, but congrats to AO and his Northwestern basketball win over UST!

They managed to keep it going last night too, and are now in the sweet 16!

Yeah, and they owe a 'thank you' card to St. Norbert!  Elmhurst having to go three OTs in the late game Friday took a pretty obvious toll on their legs for Saturday.

Seriously hilarious! I like how they fast forwarded through St. Thomas knowing they wouldn't get any All Hockey Hair Team members from a military academy.

I wish I could give a million +k, bennie.  It's like I traveled back in time 25 years.  But I haven't.  This was a class 'A' chuckle fest.

::) I'm guessing they can save the thank you note for themselves.

Oh NOOOOooooooes.

I just showed the video to #1 and she said, quote, "Why is this funny?  It's just normal hair."

So, my question: Do I put her in the convent now or is it already too late?

Did you have the volume turned off?  Might also have to explain a few jokes concerning Edina and St. Thomas Academy I suppose.
