Haven't seen it, but Titus Welliver is always good.

He is good. It's tough to top the bada$$ character he had in Deadwood, I think. You can see a little of that in Bosch but I think the Deadwood character was a little better.

Good series, though.

One of the things I like least about living overseas. Americans are the last fair game targets of universal bigotry and prejudice. Sigh.

JUST when you thought America couldn't get any crazier, they go and prove you wrong.

The country is notorious for their gun loving nature and their constitutionally enshrined right to bear them. But now they will be able to add a particularly alarming firearm to the cabinet — one that shoots flames.

The AFL just published a ten minute video about a surprise for two mates that were going to sit and watch last year's Grand Final in Federation Square (a plaza in the city with a huge TV screen playing major events like the tennis, footy, Grand Prix, etc, that are going on in the city).  Anyway, they ended up with a day that any sports fan would be envious of, but only one of them was happy at the end.

Don't know if you got the all too short series "Life" with Damien Lewis as a cop who was convisted of murder, then exonerated with a large monetary payout, who gets back on the LAPD. Welliver also played a killer in that one.

Ole's baseball season over due to hazing.

http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/2015/03/27/st-olaf-ends-baseball-season-amid-hazing-investigation/70571946/

Jeez. That must have been some pretty bad hazing. Worse than eating a few goldfish.

It might have been pretty bad, they don't give many details (though trying to work against the investigation doesn't help your cause!!). But in todays world, I could actually see a school cancel a season for making someone eat a goldfish  ::) But that would probably be more for the cruelty to animals than the hazing  :P ;)

"Generally speaking, the investigation revealed conduct that constitutes ridicule, harassment, and public displays of servitude under St. Olaf's hazing policy,"

Oz, doesn't this remind you of Basic Training....... ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

My favorite Navy hazing was crossing the Equator to become a Shellback.  Memory starts to fade but I can mostly remember:

* Being woken at about 4am for salt water hosing on our hands and knees, in our underwear and on the forecastle;
* Running an obstacle course on our hands and knees being 'beaten' with lengths of fire hose while we crawled under cargo nets and over Yokohamas (big rubber cushions for when the ship is docked);
* Being dunked in a tub of green food coloring;
* Crawling through a 15' or so tunnel of the last week's kitchen waste;
* Eating a cherry out of EM3 Jaco's belly button on his big fat gut covered in peanut butter; and, then
* Standing before Davy Jones (a Senior Chief Boatswain's mate) for judgement where we were either:
  * Locked in irons to serve a period of Purgatory, or
  * 'Keel-hauled' by being slung over the side of the ship in a harness and dragged through the ocean as the ship steamed along.

I was locked in irons, but after the kitchen waste tunnel and the green dye, I wouldn't have minded a keel hauling to wash off.

I'm also a Bluenose for crossing the Arctic Circle, but there are so few of those that the hazing is quite tame.  We merely had our noses painted blue and had to run an above decks circuit of the ship in our underwear at about 2am.  Hardly counts.

Hot off the presses: The Essendon footy players have been exonerated of PED usage and are free to play.  I am stunned, to be honest.  I thought they were toast for sure.

We're they cleared by an AFL-affiliated commission, or by WADA? And if it was AFL, could the WADA people still come back and hand down some sort of punishment?
