I'm thinking more about the possible geopolitical ramifications of Chicago Tommie bouncing around Europe.

And understand that they KNOW your an American...they can spot you a mile away.  They don't need to hear you speak, they don't need to interact, they don't need to hear you...and they expect the worst if they have to interact with you...
Learn some basic phrases (Please, Thank You , Can you tell me where the (insert need here))...
If you are polite, and at least try to communicate in their language, the interaction goes MUCH better...many will swith to English immediately.  If you are Obnoxious or impatient, they won't...
Having worked for periods of time in both Europe and South America, I have seen Americans at their worst, and to a degree, we deserve the reputation we have...
Just be nice and respectful, and you will love it!

CT -- Oz is spot on about the food. I'll hit you with a PM in the next few days with some food recs. I had two favorites in Turin: One where they brought out a raw filet and a heated soapstone and you cooked the steak on your table and the other a tiny place run by two brothers -- one the chef and the other the sommelier. Prepare for a few three-hour meals.

Yeah, I have been slacking, too.  I will say that the Troegs Nugget Nectar was great!

I've been inspired by recent doubleplusgood workplace events to re-read 1984. If you haven't read it, or haven't read it recently, then I recommend giving it a go. A bleaker, more crushing world is hard to imagine. Brave New World is pretty good in that respect as well, although it's a bleakness of a less threatening, more insidious sort and it offers a glimmer of a chance of a happy ending while 1984 does not. It is utterly crushing.

Cool thanks!😀 love it! I am going to struggle not being the obnoxious American.  My wife is theating to use a harness and a taser if I get ugly. We will be traveling with group of about 14 starting out in sorentino, then Capri, Roma, Venice, Turin, Millan, Lake Como, and Swiss alps. Plan on walking my ass off, drinking and eating, for about 3 weeks!

Some might suspect that you could see that as motivation.

Somehow this may explain quite a bit. Mrs. CT would seem to be your perfect mate in life.

I'll bet she decided some time ago to forego renting the harness and taser and just go buy them.  ;)

Greetings fellow slackers. I see you mentioned beer.
That got me thinking about the recent Cool Beans offering by Third Street Brewery...very tasty. And I'm not typically a guy who would think,  "I'd like to try some beer that's been mixed in with coffee beans."
Not typically a wheat beer guy either...but lately I've been digging the Hunny Do, also from 3rd Street.
Check it out, if you're so inclined...

Well, Bethel baseball is on a good run right now. Swept the Tommies yesterday in some pretty dramatic games on Cretin. One more win in the final 4 games and they clinch their first ever MIAC title.

Coach Raabe has been a revelation for the program. He's elevated every aspect, from recruiting to hitting to confidence. Here's to hoping he plans to stay around a long time and build something special!

Equally as exciting, Bethel recently got a commitment from a huge QB recruit. Not sure that it's supposed to be public info yet, so I'll hold off with all the details. But he's easily the biggest QB recruit we've ever had* (I realize there's no guarantee a big recruit becomes a great player), maybe the biggest recruit period. We beat out UST, multiple FCS schools, Wiscy and Northwestern (preferred walk-on at the latter 2 I think) to land him.

*I say that because Kirchoff (run based HS system), Wetzel, Aakre and Peterson were all fairly unheralded recruits. Kirchoff was probably the biggest 'get' in terms of recruiting, having lead Hutch to a state title. All of them were pretty phenomenal college QB's that the coaches were excited about coming in. But the incoming freshman is hands down the biggest recruiting score of the bunch, IMO. He's the capstone to what is becoming one BU's best recruiting classes (maybe ever). Developing ...  ;)

You beat me to it! Has to be him but at 6'2" 195lbs I don't think you can call him huge. ;)
