Good ol' Barnabus. No one gets named that anymore.

My B-I-L has a mastiff named Barnabus.    :)

A tradition unrivaled...

It's like Martha, but even more rare.
A grad school buddy of mine went on a date with a girl and reported back to me that, "Yes, indeed, there are girls named Martha under the age of 60."
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Now here is a Martha that has made the name famous; at least at the Minnesota State Fair.

I always thought Thaddeus was a name I'd never see outside of the apostles but a while back, I met a young man with the name in Mississippi of all places

I would think that if you were going to find someone with a name as biblically rooted as Thaddeus, Mississippi would be an excellent place to look.

I don't know much about Methodists and Baptists (the two major religions in MS), but I don't think they venerate the saints and apostles quite like Catholics.

Thanks 57Johnnie and OJ!  I saw some of the more recent pages in this thread and it seemed like Carleton was just a bit underrepresented  ;)

I, too, bid you welcome, CarletonKnights. Be forewarned to lay low leading up to the annual battle of the two Catholic schools here in the MIAC. Just revel in the (s)word play as the blood flows and the losers lick their wounds afterwards.

(And I can't help myself, but all I can hear as I type this is "neet", as I recall a certain knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail.)

Welcome Carletonknights-
Nice to see some new intelligent input on this board. Maybe you can lure a St. Olaf poster out of lurking to talk up the rivalry you have with the Ole's. No need to assume the fish eaters have a monopoly on rivalries.

From each according to their ability, I say. I don't resent the proletariat.

Louis Blanc or Karl Marx? Perhaps Morelly? Mr. Oz, are you or are you not a communist? ;)
