For a four minute distraction: The NFL's hardest hits 2001-2014.

That is good stuff. I saw LT (Lawrence Taylor) and Ronnie Lott each take control of an entire game individually and they remain the only defensive players I have watched do that in the NFL. I think Ray Lewis probably could do that and probably did. Some others come to mind; Alan Page and Bobby Bell who were equally as dominant from the defensive side of the ball. I'm talking about totally dominant football players not just highlight reel hits. I know that group had several highlight hits but most of them played before ESPN glamorized it.

I actually just watched them myself last night.  I had seen them so I posted them and then took a look when I had the time. I wish I had watched them first because I could have warned people about the sound tracks. Awful. I hate that abusive, misogynistic gangster rap.  If I ever find my daughters self-abusively listening to that garbage then words will need to be said.

J.J. Watt and Reggie White have had a few games like that.

Andrew Shaw is making it very hard to cheer for the Blackhawks! Head butting the puck, trying to kick the puck in to score and now biting opponents... :-[

Looks like UST would have a fine Italian football team.

Doc Emrick just called Shaw "that pesky winger."  ;)

My son said he's kind of a goon so I guess hair pulling is not out of the question.

I love hockey announcers. In between periods, the analysts are talking about the poor play so far by the Chicago goalie.

While showing a few replays in slow motion of what Crawford did wrong, they show a Tampa Bay goal. While the replay is being shown an analyst says " And THIS goal, he should go STRAIGHT TO HELL ON for letting in."

Beautiful.

If you haven't yet you have got to read/watch the story of Chris Norton on the front page of d3football.com.

Well done Chris!

Amazing what that man has accomplished. Just amazing.

Surprised there were no follow up posts about this.

I love Doc!

I have long said that when they are on the opponent's team they are a goon! When they are on my team they are misunderstood! 8-)

I always put Matt Cooke of the Wild in that category but he is not a goon. Good to have on your team but every other team hates the guy.

I went to check the Tommie website for info on the Italy trip and I found this, the Sporting News pre-season top 25.

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/jhop/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2015-16/misc_non_event/sportingnewsd3fbpreview15.pdf

The Johnnies are #7, the Tommies are #17, and neither the Royals nor the Cobbers get a mention.  I'm not sure sure about this poll, but I would be good to think the Johnnies start at seventh.

Also, it has MUC at #1, Linfield at #2 and UWW at #3.  W&J is #4 while MHB is #5.

I think they are going more on name and reputation than on DIII knowledge. Shame.

It will be interesting to see how it matches up with the pre-season poll here.  My hunch is that the first five may be arranged slightly different and include Wesley rather than W&J but otherwise be pretty similar.

Watch this...http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2015/06/05/local-multi-sport-athlete-has-incredible-senior-year/

He's a heck of an athlete...classmate / teammate of an in-law, so I watched him play a decent amount of football over the past two seasons.  I would guess that he'll probably be in the mix getting a bit of time this year, and would have a good shot at being a 3 year starter after that.  NDSU was after him pretty hard, so he was a major pickup for SJU.  If he keeps developing, he'll be a difference maker for their defense.

His hudl video is pretty fun to watch.  Not many guys wearing #52 return kicks for td's and do the placekicking as well...in addition to making bone jarring tackles on kick coverage.  All that and he's 6'3" 215lbs and runs a 4.68 40.
