Watch this...http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2015/06/05/local-multi-sport-athlete-has-incredible-senior-year/

He's a heck of an athlete...classmate / teammate of an in-law, so I watched him play a decent amount of football over the past two seasons.  I would guess that he'll probably be in the mix getting a bit of time this year, and would have a good shot at being a 3 year starter after that.  NDSU was after him pretty hard, so he was a major pickup for SJU.  If he keeps developing, he'll be a difference maker for their defense.

His hudl video is pretty fun to watch.  Not many guys wearing #52 return kicks for td's and do the placekicking as well...in addition to making bone jarring tackles on kick coverage.  All that and he's 6'3" 215lbs and runs a 4.68 40.

Yeah, at a larger school, he's not an o-lineman, probably a RB or maybe a FB, but Holdingford was very small on the o-line, which is why their athleticism is really highlighted by their state championship.

Pretty healthy pipeline out of HHS lately for it being a pretty small school with the Messmans and now Brinker.  You can count on them not contending for a title next year...the shelves were left pretty bare with the departure of this senior class.

The top 10 AFL plays of the week are pretty good this round. The season is starting to heat up.

With Rose & Workman graduating,he could be a 4 yr. starter if Novak sees a fit at either of those spots. SJU is not afraid to start Freshmen on either side of the ball.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

It's good to see the Johnnies picking up potential talent like that, particularly when competing against NDSU and a full ride.  It gives supporters like me a great off-season burst of enthusiasm.

And how about this bowling ball playing FB for Sura.
Easily could make one forget about a certain freshman FB the Johnnies had a couple seasons ago.

This will be an interesting season. There are a lot of underclassmen who saw a lot of action last year and now with this crop coming in...competition for playing time is going to be fierce. Sundly was no slouch at FB & the Wilson kid from TX was a beast on special teams waiting for a shot at LB.

This was likely a "preferred walk on" offer.  I can't find any evidence of a scholarship offer anywhere.  There certainly is a chance he could have earned a full ride for his junior/senior years.

Hey, AO. How's it going?  I sure missed your attention to detail around here during the odd season. ;)

We should get a pick'em going on this:

http://bringmethenews.com/2015/06/10/and-then-there-were-15-und-potential-nickname-list-trimmed-again/

Changing from the Sioux to the Cavalry would be just wrong!  Although it would be funny to have a likeness of Col. Custer as a mascot.   ;D

Blaze
Cavalry
Explorers
Fighting Green
Fighting Hawks
Force
Green Hawks
Nodaks
North Dakota
North Stars
Pride
Roughriders
Spirit
Sundogs
Thunder Hawks

I hope it's the Thunder Hawks, my personal most hated.

Isn't that what they changes Grand Rapids High School name to?

You got it in one, 105. WTH is a Thunderhawk anyway?  It's a stupid, made-up name.

Maybe North Dakota should take The Fighting Sue as a mascot.  At least the phonetics would still work on all the songs and cheers.

EDIT: Accordig to Wikipedia it's a "Thunderhawk Gunship (Warhammer 40,000), a space craft used primarily to transport Space Marines to and from orbit in the Warhammer 40,000 universe."  A bit micro-aggressive, that.

If they were in the MIAC would they follow convention and name themselves the "Dakoties"?
