Just purchased Kickoff 2015!. Now I get to read how my squad is expected to fare with Wartburg, Bethel, Whitewater and the rest of the WIAC on the schedule. Brutal. Maybe not so good.  :-X

But, for a measly $11 I feel good about supporting this site and look forward to the season.

BTW, Bethel and Wartburg are home games for me. If any regular poster of these schools wants to hang with me I've got 4 seats on the 50 and I'll be glad to host. Just PM me.

As did I.  Wonder if Pat would be able / willing to post a leaderboard for conferences with the most purchases based on the "favorite team" selected?

There's usually a blurb on the front page sometime in the run up to launch that identifies the top 5 or so school fan bases that have subscribed.  I don't think I've seen conferences identified that way though.
I will buy mine tonight when I have some more time. Good reminder guys thanks.

(Standing here, scratching the dirt with my toe) Um, I subscribed the day after it was announced - or maybe the second day - Pat could let us know who was the first subscriber from the MIAC - if he wanted to.

Bought mine a few days back, my very first one

Purchased Kickoff and I am looking forward to reading about Augsburg's tough schedule. Four top 20 teams; Wartburg, UST, SJU, Bethel, and a fifth team, Concordia who will probably be in the top 25 at some point, are all on the schedule. Maybe Gustavus gets in to the top 25 too. I know that if the Auggies can manage some wins against that group they will get a look themselves. Murderer's Row I tell you. Looking forward to it. 8-)

I'm very interested to see Wartburg...they looked very good last year in the playoffs...I believe they have their QB and RB back, but lost their big time receiver?  Will be informative to see how Aug matches up with them Week 1 before BU gets them week 2.

I think you are correct, that big receiver has graduated. He was good too, I think he was a converted QB if I recall. That big RB is a load and the QB deserves his pre season AA status. He has a very nice, accurate arm. Kind of like the Gustie qb but a bit taller and throws downfield more often. Last year it seemed like the Auggies were surprised by Wartburg so I expect this year's game to be different. I told my buddy while we were at the game that the only team that I thought could beat Wartburg last year was Whitewater. I have not watched Whitewater other than online but I thought Wartburg was that good. Might drive down to see the game but it sure would be easier to watch at home.

Wartburg vs Bethel sounds like an epic matchup. I hope Bethel prevails this year.

@Bethel or @ Wartburg?  Might be worth a little drive to watch while Knights are @Knox

@Bethel this year, which should make it at least a little bit more comfortable for the QB starting his second career game.  I hope so too, but I had a higher confidence factor last year, and that didn't work out.

Wartburg had Whitewater on the ropes last year and were on track to beat them, until their QB went down.  The receiver, that as OA mentioned was a converted QB, stepped in for a series or two, but he was clearly playing out of position.  Their starter came back in for a series as well, but had zero mobility.  I'm guessing they'll be on a mission this year given how close they came to advancing last season.

I think Augsburg was caught off guard by how good Wartburg was last year, too.  Unfortunately the Auggies never seemed to recover and it sort of set the tone for their season.  Being better prepared this season may make it a more competitive game, but the questions will again be if the Augsburg interior line play and defense can match up to the stronger teams.

Hate to pick a scab but those same defenders were ready for Bethel last year in the last game of the year which propelled the Johnnies in to the playoffs. You're welcome Johnnie horde. I don't remember receiving a Christmas card or even a thank you. ;)

First of all, thanks for all of you who have purchased Kickoff! I will indeed shout out the top teams sometime next week and will maybe do the conference math if I have time. But ...

What was the score of that game again? :)

The Johnnies were in the playoffs regardless of the outcome of that Bethel/Auggie Tech game.  The Tech win did give the Johnnies the outright MIAC title, though, so thanks in that regard.  :-*

It's actually probably the Tommies that owe the thank you to the Auggies for that win, had Bethel won that game they might have gone to the playoffs instead of the Tommies.

Regardless, going into this season the question for the Auggies is if their interior line play and defense will allow them to play with the stronger teams, unless they can run the table with 62-61 wins.
