From an article this evening:

Hawthorn hasn't been playing their best football recently but even their 'sub-par' (by their standards) football has been more than enough to win nine of the their last ten games.

All of the key performance indicators suggest that they are the side that sets the standard this year.

Hawthorn has won the time in forward half differential by an average of 10 minutes and 15 seconds per game this season – ranked No.1.

In the past four weeks, the Hawks have allowed the opposition to go from a rebound 50 directly to an inside 50 just 14% of the time – ranked No.1.

Hawthorn has also outscored its opposition by 24 points per game from turnovers – ranked No.1.

The Hawks will finish second on the ladder but they rank first across nearly every important stat and therefore should be favourites for the premiership.

If anyone, even a Tommie, is thinking of visiting Aus then don't hesitate to ask for a favor.  Life is good. You never know how long it will last.

OK, then.  My favor will be to ask for you to fund a trip down under for me...and probably the wife, too.  We'll leave the kids home.  :P

The BU Royals open camp today!  Can't wait to get this season started, gonna be fun watching the teams in the best conference in the country do battle each week!

So you're a BU fan, but you go to WIAC games?  ???

Ha! Yes I will go to a WIAC/MIAC game on Sept 3 when BU plays at Stout!  See you there??  So you think the WIAC is a better conference top to bottom?

Not for the Stout game...I will be sure to make it to the home opener, though.

Yes, I think the WIAC is stronger....I think the gap has / is closing over the past several years, but still exists.  The smart folks agree:

I watched this kid play in the Gopher's spring game this past April. A nice addition for SJU. He played corner and looked fine against the 2nd and 3rd team offense.

Will SJU put him in the D backfield?
Claimed he was timed at 4.55 hand held in the 40 going into his senior year.

What about a little triple option on offense?  With Sura, Barber, Bungam, and Martin at QB in addition this Parks kid...man they could just plow down the field.

I voted for Chariots of Fire, but in my view the best sports movie of all time is Raging Bull.

I put a bunch of my law textbooks on Amazon to get rid of them. I made a sale last night, and when I looked at the shipping address, it was scheduled to be sent to the University of St. Thomas law school bookstore.

I shipped it quickly and carefully as all good Johnnies do, however, the box score to last years Johnnie-Tommie football game may have been placed with the packing slip (which had GO JOHNNIES written on it.)

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

The undefeated best sports movie ever with 9 votes in the ultimate bake-off: Hoosiers.

And because Hoosiers isn't my favorite, I add this from a movie that is one of my favorites.

The Knights opened up their camp last night with 21 incoming freshman.  I'm excited to see if there's any freshman getting significant time in the UW-RF scrimmage on the 26th.
