I really don't care about the photo.  Reputation is generally earned through a pattern of actions.

I postulate that the photo was at least partially motivated by envy of all the media attention showered upon Collegeville this past week.

I did observe something I found rather odd during the 3rd quarter.  I don't know if the Tommies do this for every game but when they play in Collegeville they bring all the players on the squad.  The non-roster players stand on the side line in uniform warm up suits.

I think it was in the 4th quarter.  SJU had the ball near their own goal line, going north.  Most of the non-roster guy were lined up north of their bench.  All of a sudden Caruso is running north up the sideline like a bat out of hell.  I see him motioning and saying something.  I was not close enough to hear what he said.  These guys all rush down to the south side of bench, where SJU has possession.  A few minutes later I made the same move.  I waited until that series was over and asked one of the guys what that was all about.  Caruso wanted them on the ball to better cheer on the defense.

Is it just me or is that weird?

They only do this for the SJU game....something to make the JV feel special.
I think it's odd that a coach would run around imploring these guys to cheer more and if I recall they were extended along the sideline all the way down to the end zone.  Technically they're not bench personal but in a sense it allows UST to have their bench go goal line to goal.

Also I think it was during the 3rd quarter just before a big play for the Johnnies I noticed someone standing on a bench and waving a towel in front of the U$T fans imploring them to cheer.  He then jumped off the bench and ran back to his head coaching duties on the sideline....now that was a little odd.

I did not see the towel waving.  Sure wish I'd gotten a photo.  I'd have captioned it "look at me, look at me!"

Win or lose, Gary Fasching is a total class act.  We are extremely fortunate to have him.

Couldn't agree with this more.

I should have posted this first. Hats off to the Toms on playing one hell of a game. Roberts is a great running back.
Although, I'm going to have to go talk to Fr. Jeff at the University of South Dakota Newman Center to see why he couldn't convince Jordan to go to some OTHER seminary.

I noticed the same in the game at BU last year...bunch of guys wearing their black pajama warmups on the sideline following play down the field.

Seemed odd, but I think Glenn the type of guy to try and turn anything possible into an advantage.

Running into the Kicker could have been enforced Half the Distance to the Goal for a 2 Pt. Conversion attempt or declined and keep the PAT. A Roughing the Kicker(15 yarder), can be carried over to the Kickoff.

Sounds reasonable.

I guess I thought it was a Roughing Penalty...at least it should have been...they got him pretty good.

Well, the d3football.com Top 25 is out and the Johnnies took a bit of a hammering.  As expected, unfortunately.

UST up 3 to #9
SJU down 9 to #16
BU up 3 to #20

Others receiving votes:
GAC got 12

Bummer weekend.  The Evil Empire got the chocolates.

I thought that, in itself, was a little odd.  I thought it was against MIAC policy.  I don't see why they were allowed on the sideline.  Although they weren't inside the player/coach box, no other spectators were allowed inside the barriers.

Maybe I didn't say it here yet (I did tweet it from the game), but U$T, while I hate them, was clearly the better team on Saturday.  They dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  That Roberts kid is scary good.  Their passing game is nothing to write home about, but other than that, they've got a tremendous team.

Regardless of the outcome, what an incredible game day atmosphere that was, though!  It was great to see some old friends.  I ran into quite a few of my teammates that I haven't seen in quite a while.

U$TBench, it's always a pleasure.  That's for the Fargo brew, and congrats on your first-born!

Third post...sorry!  ;D

If there is one bright spot from Saturday for SJU, Nick Simon at TE for the Johnnies looks great!  It's a shame that he's a senior.  :'(

Watching GAC hang 59 points on AUG this weekend made me wonder just how large is the gap between levels within the MIAC. I guess I will have my answer when GAC takes on the big boys of the MIAC this fall.
