Officially, yes, but as long as you're not being a jacka$$ about it, it isn't an issue.  The SJU and Wartburg crowds both setup near the lot just off of Snelling and aren't harassed by campus security for their red solo cup beverages.
There's probably a lot of things adults can get away with if you're not disturbing the peace at any campus.  Northwestern doesn't attract a drinking crowd, so it doesn't need a vast security force to enforce the policy.  As the tailgating policies relate to recruiting, I don't think there's much difference.  If the students ever try to start drinking/partying in parking lots, every D3 in Minnesota will shut them down.

Linnemann might have told you different, but he did eventually run out of eligibility.

When we played the first time at Northwestern we tailgated at Bethel.  Discretion is the key.

Hazz, being from Bethel you were always hated.   ;)

;D

Haha. Not quite, but I bet he's not the only one who crapped his pants that day.

Eventually he did. I'm turning 40 soon, and I played against him. I remember watching the Stagg Bowl a few years later and he was still the QB.

Tom was a freshman in '96.  He shattered his ankle in '99 and obtained a medical redshirt so that he could play again in '00.  5 years is not all that uncommon.  He's no Keating!  :D

Hey, don't ruin my fun memory with your actual facts about the situation.  ;)

I 'played against' Jon Kitna too. If you use a very liberal definition of the term (like 'I was suited up on the other sideline').

UST has a beer garden and a look the other way policy in the parking lot when it comes to cold ones. This has been my experience everywhere else in the MIAC as well (when it comes to parking lots).
I can confirm that UNW will have inflatables and a petting zoo at homecoming Saturday.  Party On.

Will they have to get written consent at the petting zoo or is that just at the University of Minnesota?
