And I'm sure it was also Gene who decided to misrepresent the truth about their international trips this summer. No way was Glenn influencing the communication that was coming out of the SID office.  :-\
Perhaps way late to the discussion here, but what truths were misrepresented about the international trip over late May-early June?
I believe Rube is under the impression that UST took trips to Italy AND Canada this summer.  Which would be against NCAA rules if it was true.

He heard Caruso also burnt down an animal shelter and cheated on his taxes. "Lots of people" told him.
But only because the animal shelter housed pit bulls that attacked children and he didn't want any money going to Planned Parenthood.  It's been well documented on here that St. Glenn has never done anything wrong.

Obviously there is a lot on the line for UST Saturday (conference standing, rankings, post-season seeding, etc.), but it means as much to Auggies trying to move into the upper tier of the MIAC as things won't get any easier for them next year after Scott and Sonnenfeld graduate.

Won't even be a game.

School has been in session for awhile now and these shortened season members of the F.A.M.I.L.Y. are now eligible to dress, and theoretically, participate in games. Just don't look for their names, numbers or bios on the roster as they don't exist. With such a large F.A.M.I.L.Y. it must be hard to keep track of everyone - though SJU somehow manages to do so.

The website isn't Caruso's responsibility. What you assume is intentional could just be typical sports information office overwork. SJU can do so but they have half the sports. :)

I don't think it's that big of a deal...it actually has a kind of "Rudy-esque" feel to it.  I can just picture little Rudy Tommie calling home to mom and dad back in Joliet.
"Yes, yes I'm really on the team."

"Why the hell aren't you on the roster?" hollers Dad. Hell I'm paying close to $50,000 a year in tuition.  C'mon home and work at the factory....you'll make foreman in no time."

I'm counting 136 kids on the roster. Seems like plenty.

Yes 136 is plenty but keep in mind that many of the freshman omitted from the online roster were worthy enough to be listed as "recruits" back on May 1, 2015.

If they were good enough to list on the website as recruits why not get their name on the website and program for the 2015 season.  Yes it might be no more than an oversight.

To not include them from the beginning of the season seems a bit disingenuous, considering that many of them are paying as much or more out of pocket than some of the "elite" players (let's face it...D3 schools have discovered ways to fund the education of athletes....SJU and U$T included).

Is it still the case if nobody takes both trips, and some went to Italy, the rest to Canada?
well if I was legal, they'd have publicized it?  It only fits the conspiracy if there is no evidence.

I'm under no impression, just sharing information. I would share the initial TommieSports.com release about the Canada trip but it's no longer available online. No surprise there's plenty to be found on the Italy trip.

Either way, there's a lot of other accounts and mentions of the game available online. Below is a sampling.

To Pat's point, I don't know if any players or coaches attended both trips. I don't care much about any advantage gained from either trip. From first hand accounts of those who watched the Canada games in person, they weren't very competitive games as the talent of the teams was suspect. The traveling party to Canada was larger than the Italy group.

UST shouldn't apologize for publicizing the Italy trip. I'm sure those who went had a great experience and it does serve as a nice recruiting tool. What I don't understand is why you'd make a trip that many more team members went on, and played in, essentially disappear. In a vacuum it's not a big deal, but add it to other strange moments and I find myself wondering what can be taken as truth.

I have UST connections that go beyond my dislike for Glenn. That's the reason I paid so much attention this summer to the two international trips.

The current roster actually lists 137. Did a quick comparison of freshman on the current roster to the "recruits" list from May. There are 8 "new" freshman that weren't listed back in May. Good on the coaching staff for continuing to find talent during the summer. There are however 28 members of the "recruits" list that are not on the current roster.

It's possible some of those players decided not to come out but I'd be shocked if they all decided not to - and I know not all of them did. That would make the current roster actually 165 - and that's assuming there aren't any freshman that weren't recruited.

1f 137 is plenty, what do you call 165?

Thanks for presenting the evidence.  Definitely curious that this wasn't publicized by UST.  Do we know how long this Canada trip was?  I couldn't find any restriction in the D3 manual about how many countries you're allowed to visit on the foreign tour.  Just once every 3 years.  I had the opportunity to take a trip to Ecuador my Senior year, so maybe I should remember the rules a little better.  You are limited to 3 games and the 10 pre-trip practices can only be attended by people going on the trip, so maybe you could say the Tommies aren't quite within the spirit of the rule there as the full group didn't make the full trip to Canada and Italy.

What we're witnessing is the natural recovery process some Johnnies go through after losing to the Tommies. One of the great things about Caruso is that he instills personal accountability in his players and this extends beyond the football field. He's developing leaders. That's why you hear the Tommies being self-critical, identifying their weaknesses and taking steps to improve, rather than quibbling over team photographs, summer trips, website updates, and tone.

Having so much material to work with its easy to see why Tommies are good at this.
