Huh.  Thanks, BW.  I was unaware of the divisional difference.

So was I last week when some us were discussing it.

Duff, I think you're referencing the D1 eligibility rules.  D3's are different.  The general rule in D3 is that you must have participated in less than one third of the scheduled contests.  So if he's played in five games he would be ineligible for a medical redshirt.

Why the NCAA would have different criteria for different divisions is confusing to me but they do.

Hold on. There's still hope. Clark has only played in 4 games so the Johnnies just need to make a run to at least the national semis for him to have played in less than 1/3 of their contests.  :P

It's regular season contests so the post season isn't included.

It wasn't totally lost.  I figured you weren't serious but I posted anyway just to clarify the point.

You've still got it...kind of anyway.  ;)

Quiet week here...way down on the "Glenn Caruso did something classless" quota.  Interested to see how much of a fight Gustavus can put up this weekend, hopefully stretch is up to the task.

Fill in the blank:

Chuck Norris is to toughness as Glenn Caruso is to ______.

I prescribe heavy doses of Sura.  Play keep away and let the Gusties offense get cold sitting on the bench.  Should be a fun game to watch.  Johnnies by 15.

I predict...#26 Gustavus  (+10.5) will upset @ #14 St. John's.  Hendrix's passing game looks unstoppable! He leads all division III in passing.  Don't get me wrong as as Tommie fan that game coming up for UST scares the crap out of me.

Just sharing ;D

They couldn't stop Sura last year. Can they stop him this time around?

I'm with ROR.  If SJU can grind it out and keep the GAC off the field, they'll win.  I have confidence.

My 4-year old son is overly excited for Saturday.  Not so much for the game, but he knows there are bouncy houses on the Tundra following the game.   ;D

Pssh.  If GAC gets within 21 of U$T, I will be quite surprised.

Never underestimate the value of a bouncy house. I swear our local AAA baseball team doubled attendance by adding a "kids zone" with a playground and bounce houses. Tickets to the game are cheaper than the local bounce house place and unlike the local bounce house place I get entertained also!

Very intriguing game for a number of reasons.
1.  It's homecoming for SJU and a homecoming of sorts for Hendricks.  I'm sure he would like nothing more than to play spoiler to the Johnnies.

2.  The Gusties are undefeated but let's be honest...they haven't played anybody except the Auggies and in that game neither team put on defensive clinic.

3.  The Johnnies are coming off a bye week.  Great that they had an opportunity in the middle of the season to rest and heal up.  However they'll be facing the best passing attack they see all year.  I don't like the bye week...especially when playing a quality team.  Coincidentally the Johnnies have faced the Gusties after the bye week the past 6 seasons and have 5 wins to show for it.

2014 Win @ GAC 29-19
2013 Loss @ GAC  20-23
2012 Win vs. GAC @ SJU 31-17
2011 Win @ GAC 24-16
2010 Win vs. GAC @ SJU 33-12
2009 Win vs. GAC @ SJU  38-10
2008 No Bye Week
2007 Loss @ BU 14-17
2006 Loss vs BU @SJU 13-28
2005 Win @ U$T 48-14
2004 Win vs. U$T @ SJU 21-0

This game comes down to the Johnnies controlling the ball on offense and if they can keep Hendricks and the Gusties passing game off the field.  Weather should not be a factor in this one as the forecast is calling for sun, 52 degrees and 5 mph winds.  Should be good sized crowd considering it's homecoming at SJU and GAC being undefeated.

And you can drink beer at the ball game!  8-)
