Good win for the Johnnies even though the day started off rough for the defense.

I like how teams keying on Sura has forced SJU to open up the offensive playbook to get Bungum and the rest of the offense more in-game looks. If they want a shot at the playoffs (and if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs), the Johnnies will have to be a very balanced team.

Well, the defence is a little underdone but the offense sure is able to put on the points.  The last few games will be important ones. I hope we get a good post season.

Also, I know the starters ran long but I don't mind that. They will need to learn to run out games if the get to the post season.

Bethel is up next for SJU & their Freshman QB is gaining experience & confidence every week for the Royals. I hope the Johnnies don't come out flat next week like they did today. Appreciate the win,but win next week on the grass with a bunch of bouncing Bethel students jumping up & down on the aluminum bleachers & jingling their keys.

105 and others,

The field is not in too bad of shape after a game, after two and a half days of rain - yeah, right. Right now, there is no rain forecast all week, so hopefully the grounds crew can get it dried out and rolled flat before next Saturday. I think it'll be a better game than I thought it would be a couple of weeks ago. it sure is going to be fun watching both Sura and Klitzke running for their respective teams. Marshall ended the day with 230 yards - he was a force to be reckoned with -  yikes! I played a season with his dad.

Hey guys, can we make an agreement to never ever discuss the end of that gopher game tonight on this board?

*edit: I feel better after watching the end of Duke-Miami.  There's more than one gut-wrenching way to lose games.

It's sand based and drains really well. Rain usually isn't a big deal. It's when it's gets into late November and turns into the frozen tundra that it gets tough to play on.

Ha! I was there it was tough to lose like that but the Gophers looked very good for most of the game. Jabrill Peppers. Wow. He is a freshman too.

I know of one potential candidate for the permanent Gopher Head Football Coaching vacancy who would have ran a fake FG to at least make it interesting. Come on Tracy Claeys, everyone in the stadium,as wells the TV audience, knew you were running the QB sneak.

Agreed. I had no problem with going for it but the play call was totally predictable.
