Offensively, it was probably UST's worst game. I think about 3 trips to the redzone they came up empty. Penalties, penalties and more penalties. 13 for 157 yards. So many plays negated by a holding. Also, I think there were 3 penalties by UST on kickoffs that went out of the back of the endzone, I honestly have no idea how or why you'd get a penalty in that situation, the ball is clearly not going to be returned.

You get a penalty because it's against the rules. The rule book doesn't say it's only a penalty if the kickoff is returned, it's a penalty regardless, same as on a fair catch on a punt return. If blockers thought they wouldn't be flagged in that situation, that could lead to a dangerous condition such as clipping or personal fouls. It's similar to a holding call that is completely away from the play, it's still holding and a penalty.

Not trying to speak for USTB, but I took the comment as bonehead penalties rather than no calls.

What Wartnight said. Not debating whether or not they deserved a penalty. Just don't know how you go about getting one when a nice 25mph wind is behind you and you know the ball isn't going to be returned. Especially a personal foul.

Not looking forward to another season watching him...having him around to give the ball to will be a great boost to UST next year when they're breaking in a new full time starting QB, I would think.

Wonder if we'll see a UWW/St. John's in the first round..Then winner goes to St. Thomas?

Then again, I don't know if the committee will keeo UWO, UWW, St. John's, St. Thomas and Linfield all in the same region of the bracket. St. John's or UWW might be moved to the North.

Yes, they'll move someone north - round 1 is too difficult with these 8.  My bet is UWW.  If UWO were #1 or #2 and undefeated then they may move them north as #1, but with a loss I bet they keep them west.
