I'd agree with much of what Wally said above. And the committee has shown a willingness to send Wesley 'South' in the past.

More than that, they've been very willing to grab multiple #1's from a single region in the past. I would definitely not assume that they'll build the brackets around whoever the Regional Rankings list as each regions #1. They'll be more concerned that the right 4 teams get the #1 slots.

In fact, they tend think much more nationally in the construction of the bracket than they did even 5-6 years ago. If that trend continues, it'd be highly likely they'd do everything they could to move some teams out of a stacked West region.

I also think Linfield has a good shot at leapfrogging UWO by the end. And even if the Regional Committee doesn't do it, the national committee can do it for them.

I just don't think there's any way they leave all these teams in the West and North. In fact, assuming Pool C bids continue shaping up like they appear they will, with WIAC and MIAC each getting a bid, then they'll have to move some teams out of the region. Remember, St. Scholastica and SNC aren't even ranked yet, but likely to get Pool A bids.

Understood.

I wonder if the West gets 3 of the #1 seeds in St. Thomas, Oshkosh and Linfield. Wouldn't that be wild for setting up the brackets? If you ship Mount East then Oshkosh gets the North, St. Thomas the West and Linfield the South. That would be a ride for the ages.

Still have two weeks of games to help us sort it all out.

Pardon this divergence, but all should know by now that I am a hockey fan, in general, and a Washington Capitals fan in particular. So a hometown boy makes good story should be forgiven.

A bright spot, in an already hopeful season for the Caps is St Cloud Cathedral and U of M grad Nate Schmidt. He has been scratched a few times, but is not only playing excellent hockey when in, but is becoming a REAL fan favorite. A good highlight which I'm sure all can find on You Tube, showing his offensive abilities, is his assist on Alexander Ovechkin's goal in a losing effort Tuesday. More than one analyst said he was the best player on the ice for the Caps that night.

Thanks BDB. If you scroll down and read the comments on this blog, you'll see what I mean about his popularity with the fans.

Although wins have been tough to come by for St. Olaf football this season, some really good things happening in Northfield . . .

See, D3 does have 'letters of intent'! ;D

A heart-warming story - +K for posting that.

Saw an article this week in the Carleton student newspaper suggesting that the football program should be cut due to its poor performance in recent history and lack of tradition/history. Curious to see if maybe that fires up the team at all today versus the Tommie's and the game ends up being closer than what I think we all are expecting.

Wow, that's really unfortunate. And shortsighted. That was Bethel's MO before Coach J turned it around.

Not having read the article, also seems a bit inappropriate and presumptuous for a non-football student (assuming that's the case) to write an article like that. Here's to hoping a football player or two write a rebuttal piece for the next edition.

They should just join the MWC and contend for a playoff spot every year  ;D  ;D ;D

I want to see the whole enchilada used today. Have Taylor and Krueger spell Sura at times. Even though the Vikings have Peterson, they still use McKinnon and Asiata. I want to see balls thrown to Simon, Harrington, and, of course Bungham. Let's do this.

I saw T. Warner and R Perez exchanging pleasantries with Bethel WR C. Johnson, who is from Rancho Cucamonga, which is only about 60 miles up I-215 from the Murrietta/Temecula arra. I wonder if they played each other in High School.

Well, I think we can put to bed any notion of Wesley being a #1 seed.  Do we think the 3 #1s from the West scenario could actually happen, from a logistics standpoint?  I'd put it Mount, Linfield, St. Thomas, Oshkosh at this point.

I think you make a strong and correct argument but I don't think the committee will do it. Too dedicated to the regions mentality and the cost model that created it. But maybe with so many AQs now they will be ready to rank the top for no matter where they come from.

Great finish in the Gustavus/cmoorhead game. Got to feel bad for the cobbers, another heart breaking loss they should have won. #bethel2012

art76 & hazzbeen, I'm sure you will find this amusing. Mrs. 105 & I walked up to the gate to pay and were greeted by two cheerful Bethel undergrads.

BU:"Two adults?"
Me: "Yes"
BU: "$12 please."
Me: Pull out $20 and hand it to the young man.
BU: Digs in cash tray & pulled out a $10 and 2 $1's
Me: Ah, the change is $8.......
BU: Ummmm, I'm a Physics Major...haha
Me: So, do they teach the new Physics here, that doesn't require math?
BU:uncomfortable nervous laughter......
