I'm sure no one has ever made that joke before.  ;D

I wanted to drop a quick congratulations to Mr. Scott and the Auggies!  I for one, am thankful that his 4 year reign of terror on the BU defense is over.  For whatever reason, whether it's him excelling against the 3-4 front, or maybe he just see's something about Bethel's defense, he has done very well against them in his 4 years....barely lost to BU as a freshman, very close game in his sophomore year in 2013, vs. what was arguably one of Bethel's best teams every, and got wins as a Jr. and Sr.  Confusing, as BU managed to do better against the likes of SJU and UST...Hazzbeen would probably have some insight regarding his ability to repeatedly torch BU.

Anyhow, hopefully Bethel can bounce back next year...thanks to the seniors.  Not an ideal senior season, but I think they've really got some good younger talent on the team, so I think they've laid the groundwork for what could be a great team in a year or two.

Really looking forward to watching SJU and UST in the playoffs, but wish there were potential for both of them to have longer runs, rather than knowing only one will be alive after the second round.
I have a meeting in 5 minutes.......please recall that Scott tore his hamstring in that 2013 Bethel game which set him back to 50% the rest of that game and the rest of the season but he never missed a minute his entire career. Extremely tough player as well as talented. He will be missed for sure.

By Augsburg, yes, but not by the rest of the MIAC!!!  In all seriousness, Tech will likely be a hurting unit without him!

I do recall the injury...even after that, he had some plays where he hobbled for a first down, and he did enough on his side, scoring a TD with a few minutes left but Augsburg couldn't pick up the onside kick and BU ran out the clock by picking up a couple of first downs.

That is a funny video Tom Thumb. St. Thomas will host... St. Schola... Luverne! Luverne? Like the town in Fargo Season 2?

Take care of business, and then it's time to set a Division III NCAA playoff attendance record.

Saturday after Thanksgiving....it would be a good sized crowd but no chance of an attendance record.  Maybe a playoff attendance record.

Oops...guess I had a case of selective reading.

Mr.MIAC

So I've been given clearance to head back to MN for the UST game this weekend (and maybe next weekend, if things go well). What's the situation with tailgating on the UST campus nowadays? If anyone on the board who's attending the game wants to meet up for a beer, PM me. I'm bringing a couple cases of Yuengling--the oldest brewery in the US--along for the trip.

Interesting bracket from an SJU perspective. I'm not a big fan of rematch games right out of the chute in the playoffs. Part of he charm of the postseason is getting to face new opponents. I understand the geography aspect of D3 brackets , and in the end, the goal is to survive and advance regardless of opponent. I'm not going to complain, the johnnies are in the field for the 2nd straight year, they get a home playoff game and they've been playing good football.
I know that SJU understands that Dubuque is a much improved team since early sept.. Another layer to this match up is that in some ways, the johnnies are a different team as well from sept. it should be a good match up.

Remember playoff games start an hour earlier. As much as that is going to kill me, it will be worse for Oz!! 8-)

It's interesting how different programs approach the play-off selection show. UST had a viewing party, but they knew they were in, Whitworth had a viewing party (they posted link on Twitter) but they were on the bubble. On the radio post game show last Saturday the play by play guy, VOJ, from WBHR asked Gary Fasching if they team was going to have a viewing party? Gary's response: "No, it's out of our hands now". I'm sure there were groups of players who gathered in dorm room together, but it's kind of interesting to see approach different "at large" teams took to the selection process.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Rev,

I would save that clearance for the next weekend.  It's going to be a snoozer this weekend.
