They didn't, as far as I can remember. Can a dead ball foul, and the roughing penalty offset? I didn't think so, but maybe that was it.

When the ref announced them, he said the roughing was declined (obviously), and the unsportsmanlike would be assessed on the kickoff.  Huh.

A tradition unrivaled...

Can't believe those cla$$le$$ a$$hole$ at U$T.  Ju$t becau$e they have a better record, won the conference, won head-to-head on the road, and have the #1 $eed in the bracket (bought and paid for), they think they $hould get to hoSt a game again$t the Gentleman Johns.  They had to have bribed the NCAA.  NCAA probably in on it too.  U$T will probably make St. John's wear their road jerseys too, without even thinking to a$k. No cla$$, no clas$$ at all.

I feel like you are reading my mind right now. I feel so vulnerable, as if you are able to see the deepest secrets of my soul.

How do you do it, O seer of seers?
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Do we know if the Toms will be in all purple, purple/black, purple/silver, or one of the other options they have. It's good to have so many options for a 10 game regular season.

Is it me, or are we comparing the Toms to the Ducks for their uniform fashion - again? (Sorry Bennie.)

In all seriousness, for any Johnnie fan who has been paying attention, the play of Nick Martin has been the key for SJU since the UST game in September. If the UST game was the low point for him this year, he certainly has elevated his play and has been making good decisions, throwing the ball away instead of forcing into double coverage like he did in the 2nd half of the Sept. game.

Both SJU & UST have stud RB and big play WR. Their defenses are stingy. The game next Saturday will come down to Nick Martin vs. John Gould. Who can manage the game the best, limit turnovers and take what the opposing defense has to give. It should be interesting.

Go Johnnies!

YIKES - I guess I need to be clearer... I'd thought taking the time to replace all (with one careless mistake) of the s's with $'$ would have been enough to show the humorous intent, but had forgotten that UST's Irish Catholic wit was lost on our stoic German rivals.

Double O- Loyola plays for state championship on Saturday-was an interesting game yesterday.

I'm glad the game is in St. Paul.  A lot shorter drive for me.  I don't think home field will provide any advantage.  Short trip of the Johnnies and it's not like they are unfamiliar with the surroundings.  I expect a relatively strong turn out from Johnnie Nation.

Warning, warning, the following is a mere observation, not a shot.

Caruso's quotes in the paper stating how excited he is to play the Johnnies again seem a little too excited.  A lot more pressure on his team this time around.

What about this quote from the Strib: ""We're not real into style points,'' Caruso said. "If that means it doesn't look pretty when we start the game, so be it."

Fellas!  Is this amateur hour up in here?  You all should know the rules to "Hate Week"!

1. No sarcasm allowed.  All jokes are funny because they are true.
2. Taking the high road is off limits.  All insults should be met with competing insults.
3. Assume the worst about the intent behind all quotes by coaches, players and fans.
4. Hate week does not end.
