I was in attendance this weekend, and I was one of the people who mentioned the difference in speed. It wasn't meant as a slight, it was simply an observation. To me there is a noticeable difference in team speed between the Tommies, most of the other SCIAC teams, and Linfield all of whom I've seen.

St. Thomas is obviously a very good and well coached team, wasn't meant as a slight, just something that I noticed almost immediately while at the game. If they win this week, I am very interested to see how they match up with Linfield.

We have deceptive speed in the MIAC  :) With your Elliots and your Waldvogels and whatnot. They just sort of glide.

Anyway, fast or slow, 31 from La Verne got scorched multiple times.

Also, historically UST and SJU have matched up pretty well with Linfield. Don't remember there ever being a lopsided score.

TitanPride,

Don't know how accurate this will be, but I would expect possibly 8,000 or so. Not quite the 12K UST/SJU has gotten in St. Paul, but definitely over capacity. Looks to be mid 30s and sunny on Saturday, so, could get a decent crowd if people are sick of looking at their relatives for the 3rd day in a row. My advice would be to drive by the night or day before to see if UST brought in temporary bleachers, if they did behind at least one end zone I'm guessing you'll find a spot, if not, get there an hour early.

Not sure what it has to do with lopsided scores. 31 got put in somee tough situations when ULV went to a zero coverage look. Doesn't really say much. I beat players a lot faster than me in the same situations during my career. UST had some great play design and timely play calls for sure.

Meh. If you're in zero coverage and your responsibility is the tight end, I don't see how he just blows your doors off. It'd be one thing if he just used his size to make a play, (or, this would be sad, just shook him with a deceptive route) but that wasn't the case. If your argument was your team speed was better, my argument is that our tight end ran a simple seam route right by one of your fastest players.

Correction: it was 42 on the play I'm talking about. 31 got scorched trying to tackle Waldvogel

I'm just not seeing it. If Sparks-Jackson had a foot race against our fastest guy, then sure. But overall team speed was comparable.

I saw it differently. Like I said just my observation but it jumped out at me while there. If you saw it differently I have no problem with that.

I think La Verne has really pretty uniforms...love the color combo. I'm not sure about the speed difference, but whoever designed the uniforms deserves kudos. Lovely, simply lovely...

No, they were big and slow.

Hasn't been two months since everyone tried to tell me how UST had a "look the other way" policy.  We're going to need the full story here Rev.  What was your means of concealment and what were your losses and/or damages?

I'd only expect 8k if the weather is decent.  I think the nice early September weather has played a huge part in the recent record breaking crowds for Johnnie/Tommie, and with the blowout earlier this season/Turkey day weekend it might be closer to 5k.

Well the wheeled Igloo cooler was inspected upon arrival. No loss as they just asked that it be returned to the vehicle. Beers provided by the university are in the $6-7 region.

I'm betting closer to 5k than 8k.  Obviously, depends a lot on the weather.

Attendance for LaVerne shows 832.

SJU shows 0 for attendance.  Looked pretty sparse on the webcast.

Having to pay to attend won't impact U$T students.  Very small part of allowance.   ;)  Big impact on CSB/SJU students.  ;D

Before anyone jumps me I had both.  Of course I like the CSB grad better than the UST grad.  CSB grad has more class.   :o

I would say it has that potential.  For me to rate it depends a lot on what happens the following weeks.  If the winner were to get smoked the following week, no.  If the winner goes on to the Stagg, yes.

In hindsight, the 2003 game may be the most consequential to date.  Squeaking that out allowed the Johnnies to go on to a perfect season.  Lose that game, could still have won the national title.  Tommie's win that game, possible bragging rights for keeping the perfect season from happening.
