I'm fine with being the underdog. There are few things sweeter than proving the naysayers wrong.

Less than 24 hours until we get this rivalry fired up again!

A Tommie was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana. He wanted a pair of real alligator shoes to show off to all of his highfalutin friends at cocktail parties in the worst way, but, being a cheapskate Tommie, didn't want to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.

After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the Tommie shouted, "Maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes at a reasonable price!"

The shopkeeper said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you'll luck out and catch yourself a big one!"

Determined, the Tommie turned and headed for the swamps, set on catching himself an alligator. Later in the day, the shopkeeper is driving home, when he spots the Tommie standing waist deep in the water, shotgun in hand.

Just then, the shopkeeper saw a huge 9-foot alligator swimming quickly toward him. The Tommie took aim, killed the creature and with a great deal of effort, and hauled it on to the swamp bank.

Lying nearby were several more of the dead creatures. The shopkeeper watched in amazement. Just then the Tommie flipped the alligator on its back, and cried out in frustration, "Damnit, this one isn't wearing any shoes either!"

In the Front Page story about tomorrow's games, all "gurus" picked the Tommies, with the consensus opinion being that since the Tommies won the initial contest in Collegeville, they see no reason for a different outcome in St Paul.

While not taking too much offense at that line of reasoning, how would they explain the Tommies almost pulling off the upset against the Johnnies in 2003?

How soon we forget, this was the "Dark Ages" of UST football, the pre-Caruso era. Anything prior to 2008 does not count. A vastly inferior 2003 UST bringng the Johnnies to the brink on a muddy field in front of a large crowd.

For what it's worth, everyone predicts a game that's closer than 21 points, especially the guy who was at the first meeting.

I'll take SJU to cover the spread set on triple take.

I already have enough in the checking account to cover any fines and court costs that may arise from my storming the field after the game, oAs. I hear the NCAA takes the sanctity of the field very seriously in the playoffs.

oAs, the Alumni Association is sponsoring a tailgate in the parking lot behind the Fry Engineering Building.  There's also a big gathering at O'Gara's.  I need to check with some people in the AM to decide what the best option is.

I hope you're picking us.   ;)

Welcome back.

So how would you folks compare the 2010 Wildcats with the team of today? Back then UST ended their season with a 24-17 win, but of course it was a tough game.

2015 Cats are a 3 touchdown favorite:    :-*

Johnnie Up, everybody!

Haven't been able to post much this fall (HS football coaching + an infant will do that), but this is an excellent opportunity for the Jays.  All the pressure is on the Cretin Avenue squad, who are bigger, faster, and more athletic (clearly).  If SJU can force a few turnovers and get a running game going, I like our chances. Let Caruso make an aggressive football play that backfires, and we'll be taking a team picture at midfield during the postgame.

But if UST stacks the box, we cannot pass solidly or block a pass rush, and we allow the Cretins to offensively run toss left and right without challenge, it will be a long day.

Let's see what we can dial up! Have fun, gang!
