Well ... it's been brought to my attention that even though it says in the terms of service that all email addresses are public, apparently not everyone can still see them? I will see if there is a setting I can fix in order to restore the previous settings.

I for one haven't been able to see email addresses in a member profile for a while now.

Maybe email was hidden for some recent registrants, but the functionality didn't go away or anything. I just conducted a test and it seems to work.

Well, I've been hanging around these boards for 20 years now  ;)  and for all that I hold dear, especially my Chicago Tommie decoder ring, I swear for a while there I couldn't see the email addresses. Now I can. I guess you just needed to turn the profile machine off and then on again.  8-)

Well, there were a thousand people whose emails were hidden, so that's a good chance those were the only ones you'd looked at for a while. Why would you look at the email address of a long-time poster, when you already knew them? Just thinking.

That's a very odd question Pat. Perhaps I wanted to email them vs. personal message them. Which is probably why you have it in your terms of service that all emails be public.

Now a question for you: Why did you point out that MIACsideliner was an Athletic Trainer? Now that I can see his email address his job is not listed

You and I were part of an identical conversation somewhere or another on the boards in the recent past, Pat. As I said at that time, I, too, hadn't been able to see email addresses in a member profile for ages now. I can see MIACsideliner's now, though, although I couldn't an hour or so ago.

Re: penalties and intent to injure.

No one can know for sure what a player's intent was on a late hit or a hit that leads to an injury. We'd all like to think no player or team takes the field with an intent to cause actual harm to an opponent. At the same time, in all levels of football, certain teams and players do start to take on a reputation for questionable, if not dirty play.

If what CT says is true, Glenn might want to preach even harder about not only the number of penalties his team is taking, but also the type.

SJU 8-87
Personal Foul, Holding, False start, Roughing the passer, Roughing the passer, Unsportsmanlike (Jordan Young), Personal Foul, Delay of game

LaVerne 6-66
False start, Holding, Holding, Personal Foul (Trouccolo), Personal Foul (Jordan Young), Rouhging the passer (Knight)

GAC 6-70
Pass interference, Illegal Block, Holding, Encroachment, Facemask, Personal Foul (Dummer)

Car 7-82
Offsides, Personal Foul, Holding, Unsportsmanlike conduct, Roughing the passer, Holding, Illegal cut

They have certainly gotten their moneys worth over the last four games. Unfortunately the UST play-by-play doesn't indicate the offender for most of these. Young is the only guy who shows up twice - in back-to-back weeks. Maybe everyone else has been sent to the bench for being liberal with their after whistle behavior.

Should have included the Concordia game as well.  It was the week before Carleton game.

13-157
False Start, Holding, Def Holding, Holding, Holding, Unsportsmanlike Conduct,
Offside, False Start, Roughing the Passer, Pass Interference, Personal Foul, False Start,
Holding

To the Tommies credit it appears they are trending down in penalties since that week.
Must have been a point of emphasis going into the playoffs.
Maybe trying to keep penalties under 100 yards a game and limit personal fouls, roughing the passer and unsportsmanlike to only 1 or 2 per game.

From my count last five games UST has been flagged for:
-7 personal fouls
-5 Roughing the passer
-3 Unsportsmanlike conduct
sounds more like the lyrics from a demented 12 Days of Christmas song or something.

45 sacks is an impressive number and U$T clearly leads the league in this category.  We get  it...they are a tough and physical team.  However a combination of 15 penalties for the following (personal fouls, roughing the passer and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties) in the last 5 games?  I would wager that most teams don't have that many in a season.
The Tommies are averaging 1.25 personal fouls a game.  Maybe I'm missing something but that seems excessive.

What a bunch of budding little tyrants around here. I'm "entertained" by the passive/aggressive calling out of someone specifically with the haunt of further consequences.

Pat got the ball rolling with a nice dose of kerosene and you little jackals pushed it along all to eager to light a match.  Quite a distasteful feeding frenzy we have going on. Congratulations.

I didn't think I was revealing a state secret -- anyone can put an email address into google and I know you guys have all done so in the past.

The board is all about banter, but in my view this post goes way too far.

Perhaps you make a point.  Maybe bennie can take a time out from the baking activities you earlier implied to join your cause in preventing things going too far.

Banter: "The playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks."

Example #1: Posting a true story detailing how a feminist woman baked bread using her vaginal yeast, whilst suggesting the Bennies might join in the bread-baking tradition over in Collegeville.

Example #2: In the wake of some serious injuries, claiming Caruso "coaches" his players to intentionally injure opposing players because it might be a "game changer."

Which of the above examples comes off as playful, friendly, and teasing?

Neither.

Not sure if we've ever had an athletic trainer register to post here before.

Wasn't one of the new Oshkosh posters a trainer... or something like that?

Strength coach

I think the way this went down is the strength coach was taunting the WIAC board on Twitter -- did that person actually also register?

So I just listened to the Johnnie broadcast of the UST/SJU game. I won't go too far on this point, as it makes no sense to pour salt into anybody's wounds after an emotional loss. I say this as someone who engages in some edgy banter, but down deep respects the SJU program. You guys might want to consider switching up your broadcast team.

It's good to be passionate about your team. Maybe it's even okay to come off a little biased, especially when your listenership is mostly regional. That being said, your broadcaster named Mark just comes off like an unprofessional, whiny little bit@h. Every time UST runs a successful play they MUST have cheated in some way. The officials are NEVER fair to the Johnnies. Everything the UST coaches and/or administrations do is CLEARLY classless.

The Johnnies should take ownership of their mistakes, not constantly look to displace blame. It's like this spiteful Mark guy is operating with Johnnie blinders on and the program can do no wrong. It comes off as entitled and pathetic to listeners...no wonder other coaches won't take his interviews. It can't help recruiting. The Johnnies deserve better than this guy, who's more than a little embarrassing.

The other guys were better. It's clear they're not neutral, but at least they make a point of congratulating UST and acknowledging areas where SJU needs to improve. I think they recognize how off Mark sounds, given the fact that they're pretty willing to disagree with him on air. Maybe get rid of Mark and promote one of these guys.

Very good post Rev. It's one thing to be a little biased, but VOJ takes it way too far. I realize that Johnnie supporters probably like it, but to listeners that are impartial or fans of the opposition, it is very annoying and unprofessional. Evidently this isn't just an isolated case and VOJ has been doing this for some time now. The fact that he continues to do so indicates that SJU condones his behavior. I think this does not reflect very well on SJU in general.

This past game was my first listening to VOJ and will probably be my last unless I have no other option if I decide to listen to a Johnny game in the future.

The "Walk Away" drill doesn't just apply to the football field . . .  UST was way better in 6 of the 8 quarters this year against St. John's.  Luckily for Johnnie fans, Gary has right approach heading into next season:

I assumed that if the "Allow users to email me" box was unchecked your email address would be hidden.  I now can see Scott's email, I could not earlier.  So either the box was unchecked or something else changed?

Mr.MIAC

So what have we learned today kids?

1. You walk a fine line when telling jokes that mention vaginal yeast.
2. Never use your work email in a public forum, especially if you're going to make some pretty serious accusations.
3. The Tommies play what John Madden liked to call "black and blue football."
4. It's widely accepted, at least on this board, that certain members of the SJU broadcast team kinda suck.
5. Post Patterns doesn't work as it's supposed to at times.
