Just spoke with Matt Higgins, Assistant Executive Director of the MIAC.  Coaches vote on coach of the year.

After reading the Wabash posts on the other board for awhile, Lil' Giants is starting to make a lot of sense.  It started with posts about how "UST must not respect us because they aren't posting any trash talk about us" and "must not be scared at all..." What?

Then it appears some of them read Johnnie posts and the Caruso=classless attacks began...

then, when UST posters started to give thoughts about the game - immediately it was a hostile "my dad can beat up your dad" response; you guys just don't know how good we are, woe is me. I hate to say it but I'm missing good ol' fashion Johnnie hate mongering.  Johnnies are like that big scary dog at the end of the street that you hate because he doesn't let you get to the ice cream parlor.  It seems like the lil' cute ol' giants are like so many nippy little dogs, just out there to annoy.

NAPOLEAN COMPLEX MUCH.

I'm really hoping for a monkey-stomp now, maybe with multiple behind the back 2-pt conversions.

Tommiegun -- I don't think you're going to get the Wabash gang too riled up. The bad blood is pretty much reserved for DePauw and Wittenberg, two programs who have already shown their stripes (pardon the pun). In fact, if this game were in Crawfordsville, I expect tailgate invitation would have been extended to all of you, inviting you to enjoy the day and let things be settled on the field. Oh wait a minute ... Do you guys know what tailgates are?

Lot M on the south campus.

Drink and grill to your heart's content, Safety and Security look the other way. Just keep the beverages in a cup.

There was a comment earlier about MIAC coaches not wanting to grant VOJ an interview for the pre-game show.  I believe only one coach in the MIAC has ever declined an interview with Mark.

Probably have to expect that -- if you're going to badmouth a coach on the air to the extent cited here, you might not get a pregame interview.

Chicken or egg, maybe?

I never expressed an opinion, just stated the facts as I believe them to be.

During the times I've listened to the Johnnie Radio Network I have not heard Mark badmouth any coaches.

Interesting ... We received word from Wabash, which they presumably received from UST, stating that no tailgating or RVs were allowed on campus for the game.
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Recognize the difference.

Officially, there is no tailgating allowed on campus, however...

Fixed it.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I can confirm that.  Tailgated in Lot M with no problem.  Even the City of St. Paul police are friendly.  Providing them food helps.

If you have an RV, get there real early.  You can probably find a spot on Summit west of Cretin.

Be sure not to bring beer on the main quad outside the stadium. We made that mistake a couple of weeks back and the cooler had to go back to the car.

Why the hostility?  Caruso doesn't seem to agree --- since we are in the playoffs, he isn't concerned about style points.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Not sure that applies in this case. If he wasn't badmouthed on air then he probably would have accepted the interview. The reason he was badmouthed is irrelevant, it was still his decision to badmouth him on air.

Or are you implying that he declined the interview and then VOJ badmouthed him?

Here's a question:

With the success of UMHB and Hardin-Simmons this year, and the ASC now going to 10 teams. Do they compete with the WIAC and MIAC for "strongest conference"?

Discuss.

I would say they are in the mix. Will the ASC get an auto qualifier, as for now I believe they are Pool B...?
To expand on this who would be considered the 5 "Power Conferences" in D3?
1.WIAC
2.MIAC
3.The "New" ASC
4. NCAC
5.Ohio Athletic Conference-mainly for the Mount Union dynasty.

Discuss freely.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

retagent

Many Coach of the Year, or similar, are given to those coaches whose teams have exceeded expectations. I really don't think UST exceeded any expectations. Still, it's hard to find a better candidate based on objective criteria.

Delete NCAC and replace with NJAC.  CCIW should also at least be in the discussion, as should the Empire 8.
