Many Coach of the Year, or similar, are given to those coaches whose teams have exceeded expectations. I really don't think UST exceeded any expectations. Still, it's hard to find a better candidate based on objective criteria.

So before this season started, you think it was general consensus that UST would go undefeated and thoroughly dominate every game? It sure wasn't my opinion

Also, wasn't it expected GAC would contend for the title this year? I wouldn't say that their season exceeded expectations.

I agree with RoyalsFan on this one.  I for one did not expect UST go undefeated or be SO dominant this year.  They're playing at a whole other level.   GAC was expected to improve by more than one game.  That is certainly the expectation they set for themselves.  I never expected them to contend for a title.

RoyalsFan;

I'm just stirring the pot. VOJ isn't going to change and I'm glad he isn't. It's been a very successful formula for years. It's only the Tommies that light him up (and it's all in the spirit of Johnnie/Tommie week anyway). Meidt used to get his attention from memory but no one should complain about that either.

Roll on Johnnies in 2016!

He did apologize for being too critical, but that doesn't mean he will change. Guess we will have to wait until the next Johnnie/Tommie game to find out.  ;)

F&$@ ME!

I have to rush home, cancelling meetings before I'm gone for a month because Mr Oz's mother yelled "Spider!" as they were backing out of the driveway. Mrs Oz hits the accelerator, not the brake, and the partially open passenger door flies open and nearly rips off as it hits the front fence. Mrs Oz and the m-i-l are both in tears because we fly out of the country at 7am tomorrow and panic has set in.

The spider was on the hood of the car, by the way. Not even in the car.

Which is the patron saint of patience?  I need to do a quiet prayer before I walk in the door.

Did I mention that she drives a brand new Toyota Highlander that we picked just last May?

I really need that Saint's name. Someone here has to help me.

Sitting in an Uber in insane traffic because every road in Melbourne is under construction is not helping but I now believe I'm under control. I won't be going all like VOJ on the Tommies when I get home.

I thought she was the patron saint of cigars... :o

Thanks, 105. I'm all prepped. While I was having a quiet thought with Rita, Monica whispered in my other ear. I promised I would get to her after dinner.

Yeah, but did she kill the spider?

TommieMedia released this week's edition of The Locker Room with Glenn Caruso, Ryan Bradley, and Mozus Ikuenobe. Bradley and Ikuenobe are impressive young men. I met Ikuenobe a few weeks ago after the Homecoming game. My buddy is his mentor. Great kid.

Should be a good game on Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5yTLx-3SPs

Now that I have the actual facts it's even harder to believe.

The spider wasn't even on the car. It was on the house awning at least five yards away. Mrs Oz jumped out of the car leaving it in reverse and it rolled backwards, the driver's door catching the fence and ripping completely backwards on the hinges. Hard to believe.

No comments on this so I guess I'll take the bait and bite.
I tend to agree that GC absolutely is deserving of coach of the year honors.

I don't know what's the greater surprise is in this.
A coach that starts back to back seasons 6-0 only to finish 7-3 this year gets four votes for coach of the year or a coach who's team runs roughshod through the league only getting 4 votes from his peers for coach of the year?  Are the coaches really the people that vote?  Is the voting somewhat based on respect (or lack of), friendship or envy and jealousy?

You bring up some very good points Faunch. Why would a coach/team that didn't improve record wise over the previous year get as many votes as a coach/team that improves by getting 3 more wins, going undefeated and dominated every game?

I can't sleep trying to figure out why?  Maybe something "behind the back" was involved?  ;D
