F&$@ ME!

I have to rush home, cancelling meetings before I'm gone for a month because Mr Oz's mother yelled "Spider!" as they were backing out of the driveway. Mrs Oz hits the accelerator, not the brake, and the partially open passenger door flies open and nearly rips off as it hits the front fence. Mrs Oz and the m-i-l are both in tears because we fly out of the country at 7am tomorrow and panic has set in.

The spider was on the hood of the car, by the way. Not even in the car.

Which is the patron saint of patience?  I need to do a quiet prayer before I walk in the door.

Saint Jack Daniels.  Best of luck to you, Oz!

Here's a question:

With the success of UMHB and Hardin-Simmons this year, and the ASC now going to 10 teams. Do they compete with the WIAC and MIAC for "strongest conference"?

Discuss.
I would say they are in the mix. Will the ASC get an auto qualifier, as for now I believe they are Pool B...?
To expand on this who would be considered the 5 "Power Conferences" in D3?
1.WIAC
2.MIAC
3.The "New" ASC
4. NCAC
5.Ohio Athletic Conference-mainly for the Mount Union dynasty.

Discuss freely.

I wouldn't include the NCAC on that list yet. I think the key to being a Power Conference is that you have multiple teams that are playoff threats (can win a few games) each year. So if DePauw gets to that spot and Wittenberg and Wabash remain at their current levels, you'd have a much better argument.

What separates the MIAC and WIAC in my opinion is the depth of the leagues. But the CCIW, NJAC and E8, as someone else just posted, would all be on my list as well. If PLU returns to form or another team starts to consistently push Linfield, the NWC could be up there as well, but right now it seems pretty lopsided out West.

Will be watching playoff football this weekend - in Normal, Il. where alma mater Illinois State takes on Western Illinois in the second round of the FCS playoffs.  ISU has already beaten WIU, on homecoming weekend in October.  Should be a good game, pointing toward a rematch of last year's FCS final vs. the "Bizon" of NDSU in this year's semi-finals, which would be at ISU in a couple weeks if we take care of business.  Temps around 50, sunny, too nice of a December weekend to sit at home in Madison WI.!

Good luck to both teams today - looking forward to a great game.

This is terrible. I'm not even sure how UST scored. I am assuming on a punt return. Embarrassing.

Hey everybody ... I just saw a complete play.  I think at half time I'll go out and buy some lottery tickets !

Your video feed is off the charts bad.

Did you really want to witness that thumping?  ;)

Just my opinion, but power conference suggests whoever wins the conference is a legitimate threat to go deep into the playoffs. Think SEC and Big 10 in football or ACC in basketball. Not every team in each of those conferences is a national title contender but the ones most likely to win it are. The NCAC doesn't fit that description. The OAC doesn't fit it either because the "whoever wins the conference" is the same team every year. Same for the ASC to a little lesser degree. UMHB didn't cruise through the ASC like Mount Union did, but the Crusaders' performance in the playoffs was good enough to convince me they haven't lost their dominant grip on their conference.

If you're asking which conferences are the best, the WIAC and MIAC are certainly in the Top 5 (and maybe top 2). Depending on how you define "best," the Empire 8 is one of the deepest. The Linfield fans said Cortland State is the best team they've seen this year and Cortland was evenly matched with a lot of their conference mates. The NJAC has gotten deeper by adding Salisbury, CNU and Wesley. The CCIW seems to have very strong programs at the top.
