Congrats to the Tommies! As a Johnnie, I usually hate the Tommies. But this team isn't hard to root for.

The coach, on the other hand...Anyone catch Glenn on SId's show this morning? DId a good job figuring out what the hell Sid was trying to say, but bristled when Dave Lee suggested that their facilities had anything to do with his success. Then he rambled about how he wants recruits to get a feel for the place..blah blah blah. You better not dare question that recruiting and facilities have lead to his success - it's all Glenn :).

Considering GC flat out acknowledged the impact/importance of the facilities, I think you're inferring an awful lot that wasn't there. Not uncommon of a Johnnie fan re: GC, of course.

It also sounded like Sid proposed to GC at the end of the interview. That was odd, even for Sid these days.

Entertainment factor could be high on the 9:30sports show tonight based on this Reusse tweet after taping today. Thinking Sid doesn't like Reusse's negativity towards the gophers.

Sid accused Dark of being anti-Semite. Now, Sid's giving me abuse about covering St. Thomas. I'm thinking he's anti-Papist. #thesportsshow

I have two predictions for this weekend:

1) 34 - 31, MUC(k) over UST(d), and

2) GC again calls a play against the Mount victory formation.

If only down by three, that would be defensible.  Down by 18, it was totally classless.

Facilities do matter and we're building a freakin' dome...If the Tom's put one on O'Shaug it will be a neighborhood eyesore...but they never really cared about the neighborhood that much did they.

If that situation happens again, I'm not sure VK would show the same restraint as his father.  I know the Mount players were begging to go over the top after that bush league garbage and stick another score on to prove a point.

Seems like the proper time to spin the tale that is "Saint Glen".

It's 2011, and Mount had just lost to UWW for the third time in a row.  Caruso had been in Salem for a few days, as one of his players was up for the Gagliardi trophy.  He heads to Mount's locker room, and encounters Larry Kehres.  Coach Kehres, after just losing the national championship game, sits with Caruso for around 45 minutes to let him pick his brain, talk football, etc...  LK leaves that meeting thinking that Caruso is a pretty good guy.

Jump forward a year, and it's the Tommies vs. Mount in the Stagg Bowl.  Caruso was acting ummm..."jerky" all week (insert your own word here), and then came the game.  As well documented, Mount has an insurmountable lead, and as per usual classy LK style, starts to take a knee knowing the game is over.  First time they do it, here comes the Tommies through the line wacking the QB.  Caruso calls time-out, gets his men together, and everyone assumes it to tell them to chill out and stay classy.  BUT NOOO...he pretty much tells them to "play to the end of the whistle", and they hit the QB again.  Now LK is totally pissed, and we then run a play.  The Mount players were besides themselves, and wanted to either punch one in the end zone, or punch a certain coach and some of this players.

After the game LK was hot, and really didn't want to shake Caruso's hand, or hear anything he had to say.  VK will have that memory running through his head this week, so it could get really interesting in the Stagg.  With the Tommies showing they play to the very "end of the whistle", I can see this game getting chippy pretty quickly.  VK might just rip off Caruso's head if that crap happens again.

Like I said...should be fun!

I hope the Donovan injury wasn't serious.  He's a big (pun intended) piece of the puzzle and missing him would really hurt.

I did not see the game, but I was listening over the radio for parts of it. I heard that Brennan also went down. Did he return later in the game? I saw during the press conference that Caruso was unsure of Donovan's status for the Stagg Bowl. However, he did say that they likely lost at least one player for next week.

This is still the healthiest team in Caruso's time at UST. Gililand missed about the first six games and Stevson missed two games. Other than that, I do not believe any other UST starter has missed a game this season. Impressive.
I know he's not a starter, but Kaiser has been injured for much of the year and he looked much much better running yesterday.  Against Wabash, he looked stiff. Then again, nobody got much going running against Wabash.

Yes, although he technically does not "start" he is very important to the run game. He did look a lot better against Linfield this past Saturday.

If I remember correctly, I believe Kaiser started the 2012 Stagg Bowl against Mount Union as a freshman after Brenton went down. I'm glad he was able to make it back on the field for his last two games as a senior.

During D3 Football's Kickoff preview for UST they mentioned DB Davis Anderson and OL Hayden Brockwell as transfers that may have an impact this season. Anderson and Brockwell transferred from the Gophers and Florida Atlanta respectively. I saw that they were both placed on the injured reserve list around the beginning of the season. I'm guessing that they were injured during camp.

Retired Old Rat

skunk, does anyone know what Saint Glen said to LK after the game when he put the vulcan death grip on him during the aforementioned post game handshake?  I've always wondered what the hell that was about.

I hope VK is ready for the behind the back pass extra point play.  ;D

"Let me be really blunt about this: That is not at the forefront of our recruiting." "That is not what drives the program and what drives recruiting."

Those are his quotes. I am inferring that he wants to take credit for everything. I don't think that's limited to Johnnie fans t - I saw someone from Mount Union who had the same impression after his Stagg Bowl interview.

Interesting that Sid also asked him about transfers. And about job offers. He ignored the job offer question :).

It's a fascinating psychological case to see the comic book villain some of you have made him out to be. Inferring and hanging on certain quotes and consumed by every word and action. Running to a board and saying he said this in an interview and by saying that he was really thinking this and was inferring this. It is so ludicrous it has gotten to the point where a schools athletic trainer jumped on here with accusations then asked for the facts after bringing it up. And, fans are jumping on open D1 team websites trying to steer him away with rumors. Heck Glenn might get more attention units from some of you than your own family. Pun intended. He is who he is at this point.

Check out the tweets about him from the Newsweek writer and Bruce Feldman this week. Feldman by the way is one of the most respected journalists in college football.

I know we went through this 3 years ago on the OAC board, but who goes into victory formation before they know they can run out the clock?
