A school's booster club sponsors an award. Said school has a player make the finals but not win and they also announce the player finished second. Time to move on. The Heisman releases full voting, so there is precedent for this type of information to be shared for similar awards.

Full disclosure, I'm a board member of the J-Club and to my knowledge there was no policy this year, or any previous year, on announcing the order of finish for the finalists. Is it possible the J-Club, "the booster organization that supports Johnnie athletics. Varsity, club and intramural sports benefit from the money raised by the J-Club.", wanted to give one of our own a little extra recognition? Not only do I not see a problem with it, I don't think we'd be fulfilling our mission if we didn't.

For the guy who has spent a significant amount of time with conspiracy theory ramblings on a "secret" trip to Winnipeg I expected a little more creativity on how this could have went down with your J Club

Is it fair to speculate that Sura might have won if he could have done anything in either of the games vs UST?

I'll agree those two games hurt his chances of winning.

One of the two people that picked the Tommies is a former Tommie player.

What a Tommie Rube  ;)

Rube isn't an offensive term here.  Didn't mean to offend.  Your a rube, I'm a rube, everyone is a rube here in the local tongue.  What Minnesota lacks in "geese" it makes up for in rubes.

Oz, Isn't it bedtime in Australia right about now?   ;)

And you are right. I am a miserable cur. I have bad acne, a big German nose, and I'm short. I hate myself.

On a serious note, have you been to Whitsunday Islands? My wife, who studied abroad in Australia, talks about them all of the time. She is trying to convince me to take a trip there. They sound amazing but I'm interested in your opinion.

Almost everyone picked Mount, as they should - UST is the clear underdog - but they all (except the Mount Rube) picked close games, which is nice.

IMO I don't think UST should be considered much of an underdog. Mount is favored because of their history of success...as they should be.  I've seen enough of the Toms this season to say that this game looks like a dead heat.  I really can't think of any weaknesses in UST's game.  The only thing that might be problematic for them might be the style of defense they play.  The chances they take could cost them against a really good team.  Big plays and costly penalties could be a huge factor.

The two big questions I have are:
1. Can we handle offensive threats coming from every direction - strong WRs, strong RB, dual-threat QB.  We haven't faced the full package.
2. If the run game is slowed, can Gould handle the load? Can we get Dowdle open? I think if the run game gets stopped, some quick hits to Dowdle or Waldvogel will be key.

That lack of success is a big reason I pick the Tommies tonight.

I believe that Mount Union has been susceptible to TEs in the passing game.  Especially bigger TEs.  Their LBs/DBs are not real big but very quick.  Some TEs have been able to use body position to get open on midrange routes.

The Whitsundays are beautiful. Salt, sand, sun, reef, islands. They are spectacular. And if you want to cash in the lambo then you can rent a boat to sail around the islands, maybe even with a chef.

If there is one thing Australia has to offer before all else, it is beautiful beaches and oceans.

And if you end up going one day near your birthday then take her to heart reef and you could double the payday. ;)

I have really enjoyed the back and forth... very entertaining!
I haven't posted in so long, I forgot my password!
No masquerade here - SJU 77 grad
Duffman and ROR know me...
Back in the Stone Age, Dr. Dirk (SJU Champion -1976) & I were roommates. Both of our sons went to UST (aka the "Purple Place we don't talk about") :)
Since we lost to UST in the second round, I have actually been pulling for them to win.
Now that they are in the Stagg Bowl...... I hope they lose by 50!
I think that is unlikely.... but I hope it happens.
I have nothing against the UST players.... they have achieved great things (they have earned their swagger)!
I hope they lose because of their egomaniacal coach.... from my perspective, it's all about him-that's who he is.
I have great admiration for Steve Fritz.... and Johnny Tauer....the football coach does not seem to be cut from the same cloth.
Go, Raiders!
Go, Johnnies!
