How would you like to be a recruiting coordinator for Kent State or Miami of Ohio and you have a kid you really want but the kid tells you it's between you and Mount Union and he really wants to win championships.

We're gonna win the MAC Championship, baby!  ;D

Well, I wouldn't say this because it is a lie, but I'd imagine the schtick goes something like this:

"Do you want to accept a scholarship and be a real college football player or do you want to pay to play glorified high school football?"

Some ass clown voted St Thomas #3 in the final poll.  Otherwise they should have had an even 600.

Someone tied to Wesley perhaps? The argument from a fan or two on their board is that the 21 point loss they suffered at the hands of Mount was "cuter" than the 14 point loss by UST. Nevermind the Salisbury loss or the lack of quality wins compared to UST, Whitewater, etc.  In the end not a big deal but definitely some delusional reasoning.

I think it is probably more likely it was someone voting UWW at #2. Although a couple Wesley posters argued that, I don't think any of the pollsters would.

Miac, are you talking about the D3 poll.  That is voted on by, I believe writers, SID, and coaches.  Maybe they see things a little different than you do.

The problem, of course, with questioning the motives of someone that picks Wesley is that it also calls into question the motives of every other voter.  Did the Tommies pay off that many people?

I've noticed over the years there is no OAC in game-updates board.
I went where the action was.

MonroviaCat and CalCat started discussing on the NW update board. We have no way of knowing if the went over to MU-B. If they did then they were your polite "I'm not saying anything about classless" guys.

I cannot speak for desertcat1 rooting for UMU.  I'm guessing it's because he went to an UMU game and they treated him well. I posted before the game I was rooting for the West.  I was.  I'm still allowed a little fun as long as I don't violate the PC rules listed at the bottom of his posts.  For this PC allows those who don't care for loud obnoxious - and harmless dudes - to smite us.
Don't go dragging CalCat and I into this.  If you review our "discussion" that was a week ago and I don't think we had much to say about 2 pt conversions.  You're on your own here (well until Bluenote wakes up and decides to "have your back").    ::)

What MonroviaCat said.

UST holding steady at between a 4.5 and 5.5 underdog in Vegas...

Opened at 3.5. So the betting is presumably heavier on Mount. Makes sense given their history and dominance. What surprised me is the over under. Last I saw it was at 64.5. That's nine touchdown to be shared. I don't think the two defenses get nearly enough credit. A lot of attention is on the offense.

Take UST and the under, lock.

Hope you didn't bet the house.  :)

The house was still here, upon our return from Salem, ha.

Tip of the cap to Mount, they were every bit as advertised.  And a huge congrats to UST on an amazing year, was fun to be part of it.  Go Tommies!

What I found most disgusting from last night was all the Village People construction workers in the UST section.  Yikes.
I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but those are the seminarians referred to as Caruso's crew. The seminary and football team have forged a bond with similar aspirations of developing men of virtue. It is definitely not a village people reference.

And he found it "most disgusting." The seminarians. Must have been looking hard to find something not to like.

If he finds them disgusting what would he think about these guys?

Wesley was down 49-14 at half time and gave up more than 600 yards of offense. How is that "cute"? ???

Good article by Reusse this morning. Much to think about.

http://www.startribune.com/tommies-rest-of-miac-have-same-challenge-they-have-to-get-better/363026221/

Patrick should have had someone proof read it for him.  I'm not an English or Journalism major but I can see where there are words missing in the story.  He claims in the story that he did a read through looking for errors...oops.

"I don't the complainers have been St. John's fans. It's more the do-gooders, people who think if St. Thomas beats Carleton 80-3, it is Caruso's problem, not Carleton's."
.
What gets me was the speed. I knew it would be elevated from Mount, but it really wasn't close. And this was a UST defense that was considered very fast. They looked very pedestrian last night. And what does that say for the Confernce. I think it validates teams having to dabble outside the state for guys here and there because you can't match a team with Ohio as its primary recruiting grounds and Florida as its secondary market. I don't know that MN high school football can give you that. Not suggesting Meidt style recruiting, but Fasching and Caruso going after guys out of state that are the right fit here and there makes sense

Great point.  No doubt speed makes a huge difference. UMU and some other programs have been able to tap into Florida and other areas and secure some gifted and fast athletes to complement their normal recruiting bases.

Congrats UST on a great playoff run.

I'm not sure if UST needs to look too far from home, as they can find some good athletes in the Chicago area. I believe this is where UWW gets a lot of their players. In the past few years, UST has been hitting this area pretty hard as well.

I've also noticed that a few JUCO kids have been following UST's twitter page this year. It will be interesting to see if some of them transfer to UST next season.

I'm told Glenn was introduced on field before the Vikings game. When it comes to coming up short, UST football & the Vikings have more in common than just the color purple.
