Making a Murder (Netflix).

Anybody watch this yet?  Would love to hear some thoughts and theories.  Very sad that a 16/17 year old w/ an IQ of 60-70 was railroaded into a murder confession / conviction.

On a similar note, anyone listening to Serial? It is an awesome podcast!

bennie. Can you give a little more info on "serial?" What's the subject? Under what heading can you find it?

It's along the same lines as "making a murderer"...someone was killed, and there was perhaps a bit of a rush to blame one individual, w/ out investigating others.  It's simply called "Serial".  At this point, there are two seasons of it...I'm late to the game, so I'm making my way through season 1.

Sorry for the late notice, but there will be a prosecutor on Charlie Sykes' show on WTMJ radio 620 at 10:00. (actually the local news goes to about 10:07) Might be worth hearing his side of the story.

Making a murderer is about as objective as "The Hurricane" was, that is to say not at all. It's a nice story that raises lots of questions about the justice system and the cases themselves, but both leave out an abundance of evidence that is strongly suggestive of guilt for the parties involved.

Haven't had a chance to listen to this yet but here's a link to the audio.

I really don't watch the NFL however I didn't understand why the Vikes would want another game in Green Bay.  Wouldn't all the rube Vikes fans want at least one home game?  Heck maybe even Ragnar would toss his new cheese head in the trash and come out to support the purple at TCF...considering they pay him for it!    ;D ;D ;D

There is no doubt that Vikings fans would want a home playoff game, but I bet if you asked the players they probably would rather play Green Bay again. They now know they can beat them and their chances of advancing to the next round (and getting another playoff game check) would be better against GB than Seattle. I realize winning the Super Bowl is the ultimate goal and they have to play the best eventually, but the more games they play means more money to them.

I would characterize it as a podcast that tries to unravel a mystery. It started as a spinoff of NPR's This American Life.

Here is the website: https://serialpodcast.org/season-one
It is pretty easy to find in iTunes, though it is funny how many podcasts there now are that discuss Serial. The logo is a black background with a red and white capital "S".

The first season is about a Baltimore case back in 1999 where a 17 year old kid is convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend. It includes current interviews, old police interrogation audio and courtroom audio. I found it fascinating and binge listened to it. There are 12 episodes that range from 30-60ish minutes.

The second season investigates Bo Bergdahl's story of what happened to him after he walked away from his post in Afghanistan and why he did it. They are currently on episode 3.

You definitely need to listen to the episodes in order. Oh, and if you are hoping to have all questions answered and the "truth" to come out...listen to a different podcast! ;)

30 years of Dome football really softened Vikings fans up. Ticket exchanges like StubHub and SeatGeek show the price of seats falling. When I first looked you could get in the door at the Bank at $70. Now, it's down to $50. I understand it's supposed to be wicked cold, but c'mon! It's less than half than any other Wild Card game.

Green Bay at Washington - $150
KC at Houston - $125
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati - $107

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

The Dome?  30 years of monumental suck is a more likely explanation. At this point any ticket purchase is an emotional investment in the hopes of a good game by the Vikes and this team is better positioned than any since the '98 squad to rip out a fan's beating heart and leave it lying in a sticky pool on the pavement.

I'd like to hear an exposé on that crime.  I reckon even Johnnie Cochran would have had a little vomit in his mouth at contemplating the defense.
