I didn't even know it had been awarded. Was there an article at d3football.com?  I must have missed it.

Congratulations on the award, Glenn. Imagine how much sweeter it would be if you didnt need compliments pulled out of your rivals.

No, I don't think you missed it on d3football.com since I can't find anything about it there either - strange. You would think a site dedicated to DIII football would have something about the coach of the year award. I saw it in the local paper a couple of weeks ago.

We don't generally write about the AFCA awards (or any others), so you didn't miss it on our site.

How many years of eligibility does he have left? Perra at UST has three, would be interesting to see a few years of Tommie-Johnnie games with two D1 QB's at the helm for each school
I believe Jackson Erdmann was redshirted this year at Penn State and should have a full 4 years at SJU. The QB spot is wide open and there are a couple kids from this years roster that will get plenty of reps in spring as well as Canada trip. Being enrolled now gives Erdmann time to get to know everyone and the time this spring will be valuable.

The Star Tribune did a story yesterday on Perra and Erdmann. Erdmann has four years of eligibility and Perra has three.

I thought the back up QB (Fenske?) for UST looked good vs Augsburg, granted we had a weak defense last year, but he looked fine. Not sure Perra is guaranteed anything.

Just curious, why wouldn't you consider the DIII football coach of the year worthy of reporting on your site?

Also, if you don't write about any other awards, why is there a menu selection for Awards on the site?

AFCA Coach of the Year? Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year? USA III Football Coach of the Year? Bob's Blog Coach of the Year? You can see what's under the Awards menu and pretty easily figure out why it's there. But no -- we don't recognize anyone else's awards. (And I don't think the AFCA publishes our awards, and that's fine, too.)

Fair enough - didn't realize there were so many different DIII Coach of the Year awards.

Mrs Oz and I saw The Hateful Eight tonight and the consensus is: it sucked. A shame, but this one (much like Django) was a bomb. Unlike Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill(s) and Pulp Fiction, 8 seemed to have a plot as a tool to create violence (again like Django) rather than violence to move the plot (like the better Tarantino films).  The cinematic direction and acting were quite good. Even some scenes were very engaging and memorable, but it was a disjointed mess plot-wise from one violent act to the next.

I think he tried to recreate the raw energy of Reservoir Dogs but in a western setting. Fail.  The idea behind this film could have been completed without the violence. Not true for Dogs.

So our recommendation is to save your money. Wait for something better.

SJU  needs to remove the interim title from their current wrestling coach or hire a head coach. Strange to see an SJU program struggle like this.

Agreed!  The program is hurting.

Thanks for the input.  I generally had the same opinion on Django (re: plot as a tool to create violence), though I though that Christopher Waltz (Dr. King Schultz) and DiCaprio were fantastic in it.

Anyone see The Revenant?  Movie outings are few and far between now that there's a kid at home, so I try not to waste my time seeing garbage.

IIAC and CCIW non-conference foes - It's really nice to see the mix-up playing other teams from the upper mid-west.

Lake Forest College comes to Northfield this year and Knights will go there in 2017. I've heard rumors that Carleton is trying to play a LAC from California (like Pomona or Claremont McKenna) in 2018&19, but I don't think that is going to happen
