I have two daughters attending [St. Thomas] that grew up with laundry as an extra-curricular activity. For the parents that ask "'Well, my son or daughter has never learned how to do laundry. What do we do?"
What do you do? Put yourself in a timeout for 20 years for failing as a parent.

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

So let's look ahead to 2016 and the QB position for St Thomas.  They should be very well set at QB for the next 3 years.

Senior Alex Fenske - 6'5" 210.  Played backup last year, saw lots of action, started some games in '13 when Matt O'Connel went down.  Not one to leave the pocket.  Many UST receivers say his passes are very easy to catch. He's back for his 5th year in '16. Odds would say the position is his to win?

Junior Dylan Andrew - 6'1" 205 - Was 3rd string last year, missed all of '14 with a leg injury.  Saw action in 5 games and played a bunch on special teams.  Has two more years remaining.  Great combination of passer and runner.  Great athlete who plays the position really well.  Similar to John Gould in blend of skills.  Could push for the starting job.  Chicago area kid who was all DuPage County in 8A level.

Sophmore Tommy O'Neil - 6'0 195.  Missed all of '15 with an injury.  Was 3rd string in '14 and saw fair amount of action.   Very good runner/athlete.  Probably in the mold of Matt O'Connel and with a strong arm.  Will be interesting to see where he is in the mix.  Has 3 more years remaning.

Sophmore Jaques Perra - 6'3" 223.  Three years remaning after transferring from the U.  Saw game action vs. Purdue in '15.  Highly decorated out of high school in '13.  Big kid with a strong arm making the transition from D1 to D3.  How quickly will he pick up the offense?

QB will be a strength for this team for the next 3 years, no doubt.  Competition this spring will be huge and whoever emerges will have been pushed very hard.  GC knows he's got great assets at this position and I'd expect he and Killian to make this position a point of emphasis for '16.  QB has been a tough position for the Tommies the last few years in term of injuries.   Hopefully everybody stays healthy!
Which one is most likely to play another position next season? Only 3 will travel and the 4th leaves the program or changes positions. Who is the most likely not to make the cut?

Jake Roney, C/G, Totino-Grace, son of former UST Coach Don Roney, appears to be heading to SJU to play football: https://twitter.com/roney_jake
Face it, it would be real weird playing at UST for the young Mr. Roney. I have no knowledge of his high school accomplishments but SJU has had more than a few very fine players from T-G over the years.

That's what I was thinking.  Any way you slice it, it just would just be an awkward situation.  I remember meeting Jake when I played at UST.  He was a great kid.  I wish him the best at SJU.

Mr.MIAC

So it's looking more likely than not that UST will launch a two-year college aimed at providing standalone associate degrees. The new college would provide an additional pathway into UST's four-year bachelor's program for those who show academic promise in the first two years. No joke; one of the names being tossed around is St. John's College.

Admits to the two-year college might come from non-traditional backgrounds and/or not meet the standard UST entry requirements, which are set to dramatically increase. As these students would be "off the books" at UST proper, their lower standardized test scores/GPAs would not negatively impact UST's national ranking. Here's a little background:

The whole thing seems like a perfect opportunity to recruit standout athletes who happen to be academically less competitive. What do the NCAA regulations say about these things? Could UST admit players into the new college and have them play on UST's athletic teams?

Ha!  Did the Onion write that article?  I love this bit as well:

St. Thomas wanted to find a way for its students to spend more time studying and less time waiting for the washing machine to finish its cycle. Doing laundry on campus can be stressful and time-consuming, she added.

That has to be tongue-in-cheek. I cannot remember once washing my laundry in school but I do know I always had plenty of time to do my homework and I never went to class dirty.  This is the new night of First World Problems (tm).

Wouldn't venture a guess to be honest.  Maybe after spring ball the picture will emerge.

I wonder if you're channelling the zeitgeist of GC in regards to the UST view of the student athlete.  I can imagine GC sitting in his wood-paneled office, leaning back in his leather chair, feet on the desk, wearing a red smoking jacket and pulling on a big stogie...

"How can we increase our academic ratings while exploiting the intellectually deficient recruit with standout athletic talent?  I know, Tommie VoTech!

And we're not even D1!  This is exceptional!  Go F.A.M.I.L.Y!  We're all important here.  Particularly those fast, stupid guys."

You may want to check on the bylaws of the SEC,because that may be the only place this would fly. The 2 yr. college should have their own team & schedule JUCO. Example- St. Cloud Technical College, a lot of kids start there to take general classes and get a feel of how athletics above the high school level feel. Some (especially baseball players) transfer to SCSU but they are a completely separate entity.

Other services being considered:
-Ass wiping and bidet service
-Nightly turn down service (includes a little chocolate or mint candy on the pillow)
-Bedtime story tuck-in and warm milk service
-First date / "First Experience / Happy Ending" service

Additional A La Carte services are being considered.
The "Full Helicopter Parent" package would include a Snapchat, Instagram and live Facetime of each event for mom and dad.

I'm assuming that UsT Lite students would be required to do their own laundry?  Coming from such a hard scrabble existence they probably would just walk down to the banks of the Ol' Mississippi with a bar of soap and find a rock to do their wash.

Thanks AO. I kinda feel for that coach and his team. The kid on the left really had "the flow" going. Made me want to again watch a Minnesota Hockey Hair video[https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=minnesota+hockey+hair+2014&pws=0][/]
