So... many.... things.... to..... say..... right.... words.... not.....coming  ;D ;D ;D

Can't make this up.
I truly believe UST was sold a bill of goods here. Take a Tommie to lunch alright, a business lunch! They will buy anything!!!!

This can't be serious:

"We've had parents who've said, 'Well, my son or daughter has never learned how to do laundry,'" said Bryan Helminiak, Residence Life associate director. "'What do we do? Is there any service you have or can provide that people will do their laundry for them?'"

This is ridiculous.

Anybody ever been to a Twins spring training game in Fort Myers?  We are going to one in March and planning to get a bite to eat afterward.  Any suggestions on places that are hangouts for Minnesota Twins fans?

I'm just a little better than a rookie, we went there last year for the first time.  The stadium/complex kinda sits out by itself, at least as far as we could tell from the direction we came from.  Nice stadium and parking tho, seemed like decent traffic control.

Post game, we went to a place called Bahama Breeze Island Grille on recommendation of an old Stearns County Twins fan who wintered down there for a few years.  They place is about a mile from the stadium, very convenient to the highway.  It isn't a sports bar by any measure, kind of a chain sort of place, but there were lots of Twins fans, good food and beverage, roomy enough.  It is on a main drag called Tamiami Trail, and I'd bet you could find other watering holes along the way.

RE: Laundry Service

I'm not from Edina or Minnetonka so I did my own laundry before coming to UST. That being said, I think we only had three washing machines and 3 dryers in Ireland Hall and it was a major pain in the ass trying to get your laundry done. Got to where I was throwing in my dirty undies (the whites (Big Lebowski anyone?)) with my football stuff so some work-study kid would do it. You'd come down to throw your stuff in the dryer and your wet clothes would be sitting on the dirty floor, not because I was lazy and let my stuff just sit in there, some jerk would snipe you mid cycle and piggy back off of your quarters. Which resulted in my throwing their laundry in the hallway and having to guard the dryer to avoid retribution. Dark times.

But yeah, they couldn't have gotten quotes from more white-bred cake eaters if they tried.

This gives me a chance to tell my Twins Spring Training story.

I saw them back in 1984 (I believe that's right) when they were still in Orlando. They were playing the Pirates. There was a guy in the lineup that every time he swung the bat, hit a rope. Not all were in play, or hits, but I was amazed at how hard he consistently hit the ball. I swear he hit a one hopper to the fence that never got over ten feet off the ground. When the regular season started, he wasn't in the lineup. I couldn't believe it. His name - Jim Eisenreich.

It wasn't until a few months later that I knew the whole story. He did go on to have a pretty good career, but I still remember how impressed I was.

The day has finally arrived. Today Hawthorn opens the preseason on a historical attempt at four consecutive premierships. It's been 80 years since a team, Collingwood, accomplished the one and only four in a row. But that was an amateur competition with only eight sides.  A championship this year will make Hawthorn the undeniable GOAT (Greatest of All Time).

The hash tag campaign to name four in a row is running strong: #foursome, #fourgasm, but my favourite is #Fourthorn.

Anyway, I reckon the occasion calls for a song from the archives. This one popped into my Spotify playlist. I haven't heard it for ages but I think it's the perfect preseason opening tune: Get It On by Kingdom Come.

A rusty contest as expected for the opening preseason game. The Hawks came away comfortable winners despite playing just half their senior side, the balance made up of Box Hill Hawks trying to break into the ones.

Despite the rusty play, there were sustained periods of smart football which demonstrated the fluidity of Hawthorn footy.  One Box Hill player really turned in a good game and I reckon has an almost certain claim on a permanent spot in the seniors.  The rest are still playing for their chance.

Barreiro spent the better part of an hour on Bumper to Bumper ripping the Toms for giving in to the pleading parents in the article.

Apparently things have changed since the days of feeding quarters into the machines. The laundry machines are free to residents now. There are also rumors of flat screen TVs in the laundry rooms.

Why not...they've got them everyplace else on campus.

My daughter has access to free washers and dryers in the basement of her dorm at the U. She does all her own laundry and studies while she waits. She has yet to bring home a single load of laudry and she shares her dorm with 900 students. They all seem to survive the ordeal.

I just can't identify with this "cake eater" lifestyle they enable over at UST.
