I've been hearing a little news through the grapevine that a former Edina football coach will be coming to East Northfield this spring to run the offense.  The Knights have had two coaches leave following the season, both on the offensive side.  So maybe with the majority of their offense returning and a new coach, the Knights can put up some more points this season and help out their young defense.  I remain hopeful.

What sounds ridiculous to my ears is Wee-Ack. It sounds like a kid on a swing, yelling with glee and then swallowing a bug  :o

I hear Why-ack over here in Wiscy mostly. Wee-ack is the state teachers union (WEAC).

Last Saturday's Wall Street Journal had a nice review of the book 'Rise and Fire' by Shawn Furry.

I apologize in advance if this has already been pointed out by the more astute amongst us.

We refer to them as WHY-ack but I hear WIAC people saying WEE-ack. And that's odd to me, too.

My-Ack or M-I-A-C?

I've always been an M-I-A-C guy.

With a tip of the hat to Billy Joel - my-ack-ack-ack-ack, you ought to know by now....

Because I've never actually heard it pronounced, at least consciously, I always said it as ME-Ack in my brain, and now I'm not sure why. I also pronounced Kean ("Kane" not "Keen")  incorrectly for a half during a broadcast as a student so sometimes my pronunciations are off...

When I think the word My-ack I always visualise it coming out of some guy in a pirate costume with a parrot. "Arrrrr, My-ack, me hardies!"

Having never paid attention to the podcasts where I'm sure Pat and his partners have pronounced it, I always think ME-Ack in my head as well. But I grew up in NJ, so I knew it was pronounced keen... Of course, I grew up in Central Jersey, went to school in SW VA, lived in NYC for a while, then South FL, which is essentially the same thing, before moving to Alabama. I'm not actually sure I speak a recognizable dialect of English anymore for any single part of this country...

WEE-ack must be the Hawaiian pronunciation.  ;)

I use M-I-A-C and My-ack interchangeably. It typically depends on the use. I often refer to the indoor and outdoor track championships as M-I-A-C-s. If I'm talking about what school won a particular sport title I will usually say they were My-ack champions.

The Osseo football coach is moving down to Edina to be the offensive coordinator, so maybe the previous OC is going to Carleton.  He'll need to work wonders with the Knights offense though to score more than the defense gives up, 40+ points a game last year.

I missed this move. Auggie great Derrin Lamker hired at Edina and reunited with one of  his Augsburg coaches. I like it.

Lamker on the offensive side and Boltmann on the defensive side - look out Eden Prairie.

Australia has a lot of things going for it, but sometimes this place is like something straight out of a National Geographic TV show.

Mother finds three-metre python attacking her young son after it slipped into his bed

A HORRIFIED mother who was woken by her young son's screams found him soaked in blood with a three-metre python biting his head.

She had put son Tyler to bed as normal last week when the python snuck into the family home in Macksville, northern NSW.
