My sister-in-law, a recent grad of the U of M, had a friend in college that had a pet boa constrictor. She would allow it out of the cage on occasion and over time she eventually found that it would lay on the floor, next to the couch, while she laid on the couch. Initially she thought it was a cute act by the snake, a sort of bonding tactic by doing a similar activity. I don't recall where she learned it from but she was eventually told the snake was doing this to lengthen itself, and stomach, so it would have room to eat her. I believe the snake had to be destroyed after that. College kids.

She should have checked Snopes first. http://www.snopes.com/critters/snakes/measured.asp

Now that you mention it I think it was a python. I'm not a great snake mind. Now I don't know who or what to believe.

FL does have a python problem. When I lived down in S FL 8-10 years ago you kept hearing of people losing their yippy dogs. It was assumed it was alligators, which in a lot of cases it was, but they were finding more and more pythons with suspicious dog shaped bumps as well. Sadly there are a ton of invasive species destroying what humans didn't of the Everglades.

If you care you can find some info about how a lot of it started with Hurricane Andrew. Apparently there were some tropical species breeding and import buildings that were partially destroyed west of Homewood releasing the parrots, lizards, and large snakes into the Everglades during and after the storm. Since then, there has been a lot of continued illicit dumping of pets and smuggled species compounding the problem, but the assumption is a full breeding population of several species started just from that event.

Keeps a running track of how many snakes were turned in. As you can see, the 100 or so in 2016 so far isn't really going to make much of a dent in the assumed thousands that are in the Everglades and South FL as a whole.

When I was a child my family lived in South America while my father played baseball there.  Anyway we rented an upstairs apartment from a family who had a pet boa constrictor.  One day the family pet went missing and it's whereabouts was unknown until several days later when the lumps in our living room couch began to move.  To this day I am afraid of snakes.

Just reading that story gives me the heebie-jeebies. @&$?!

I've read there is now a python issue in the Florida everglades that is changing that eco-system.  Supposedly the cause of this is individuals and pet stores releasing them out there when they get too big or no longer want them.  One good thing about our winters up here, tends to keep those big snakes away.

That's what she said.    Yeah, I just graduated 7th grade.

I have a recipe for curried Python but I'm not that fond of curry.  ;D

Thought this was an appropriate and clever picture in a BU tweet in regard to their game vs. UST tonight:

Never had python, but the fried Boa I had a few years back in Bolivia actually wasn't bad. The texture was similar to calamari.

Jake Roney will be attending SJU...familiar name to the MIAC.  Curious why he would not chose U$T?
Bitter pill or growing tired of the song and dance?

How ironic is it that the only Roney to win a conference title will do it at St John's?

I think the Roney thing popped up on here a little while back. Guessing he wants to get away and play with a few friends in Collegeville. He and his dad were at quite a few UST games the last couple years. TG seems to be a nice feeder school for SJU. UST has gotten a few here and there too, and I know the TG staff is often at UST practice.

Judging by whoever's twitter account that is from SJU though, it looks like SJU is going all in on the SEC country kids. Did I miss the news of the controversial Coach Meidt joining the Johns staff? Or maybe a mix of Meidt and Bill Snyder with the transfers too?

I do love the #ringchasin being used for the SJU recruits. Never again can John fans make fun of any other teams phrases or the business of d3 recruiting.

That account is a player, DJ Catherman, a Soph. and he is from Texas. He LOVES SJU and he is doing his own outreach to his high school friends and friends of friends. I'm not sure how many players his individual efforts have produced, but it is great to see his enthusiasm.

The coaching staff wouldn't be so open about recruits they have on their radar.....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

To my knowledge Gary & his staff aren't behind the #hashtag use so I'll chalk it up to kids being kids. Not some sort of institutional mandate that happens elsewhere. So far it seems to be a single mantra as well, not a collection of meaningless phrases.

Another CDH athlete appears to be heading up I-94.
Amazing that some St. Paul kids have figured out that there are colleges beyond what I like to call Cretin West.

And then there's a QB from Big Sky Country...the Johnnies might have their own boy band called the Jackson 2.
Watch the youtube below...playing high school football surrounded by the mountains in Montana would be amazing!
