An MIAC news item on footballscoop.com today:

QuoteCapital University (D-III – OH): Source tells FootballScoop Hamline (D-III – MN) head coach Chad Rogosheske will be the new head coach at Capital.

Not sure I buy that.  Footballscoop tends to have pretty good information, but it just seems like a strange move to me.  You return to your alma mater, help them become more competitive during your tenure, and then head off to Ohio?  If this is indeed the case, Hamline may be on the downswing again after a couple of years moving towards respectability.  But I'll believe it when it's confirmed.

Jake Roney will be attending SJU...familiar name to the MIAC.  Curious why he would not chose U$T?
Bitter pill or growing tired of the song and dance?

I think the Roney thing popped up on here a little while back. Guessing he wants to get away and play with a few friends in Collegeville. He and his dad were at quite a few UST games the last couple years. TG seems to be a nice feeder school for SJU. UST has gotten a few here and there too, and I know the TG staff is often at UST practice.

Judging by whoever's twitter account that is from SJU though, it looks like SJU is going all in on the SEC country kids. Did I miss the news of the controversial Coach Meidt joining the Johns staff? Or maybe a mix of Meidt and Bill Snyder with the transfers too?

I do love the #ringchasin being used for the SJU recruits. Never again can John fans make fun of any other teams phrases or the business of d3 recruiting.

I like the outreach on Twitter but I don't care for the "ringchsin" hashtag.

Being the off-season this must be mentioned.  The Johnnies beat the heavily favored Tommies 2-1 in the MIAC hockey semi's off the back of two heart attack goals. The first with 1:40 to go in the third, with our goalie pulled, to tie the game at 1-1 and the second at the 1:26 mark of overtime to take the victory.

The Johnnies play regular season champs Augsburg this coming Saturday night for the playoff championship and a spot in the post-season.

I think Rogo has family near Columbus, and such a move may be related to that.

Tough news for the Pipers if he does go, though.

Looks like the Johnnies had a good enthusiastic fan base at the game. Good to see that they are rising in a number of sports.

Also  a belated congrats to the Augie wrestlers, and others who made the National Tourney.

Looked like a heck of a game.

Hard to believe the MIAC does not have an NCAA Mens Hockey title, given all our member schools are from MN, the State of Hockey! UST was runner up twice and Gustavus once. If you do a little digging on rosters though you get the story why. There are quite a few 22 & 23 year old freshman from the Canadian JR ranks playing for the powers in the east. There might be a couple cases of that in the MIAC but its rare.

Hope the MIAC rep can bring a title home one of these years, whoever the rep is.

OldAuggie

As you said miac952, it was not the NCAA but it was a National Title. Good luck to both teams on Saturday, especially the Auggies and I hope to be there. Should be a packed house.

Good point. D3 NCAA hockey did not become a sponsored sport until the mid 80's I think.

You or someone else may have posted about this recently, but there have been a few cool blurbs on Augsburg Women's team lately. They were the first university sponsored women's hockey program in the midwest 20 years ago. It is fun to see how far the sport has come in that time and how strongly the MIAC has supported its growth.

That's a big blow for Hamline.  Coupled with the loss of Austin Duncan, it will be a rough year for the Pipers.

Last week I posted a question about the Capital job over on the OAC board. There weren't many ringing endorsements about the administration at Capital. The opinion was the move from Hamline to Capital would be a lateral move at best. I wish him the best and if the move involves being closer to family, I can understand it.

According to the release on HU's website the Capital coach left to be the Assistant Director of Football Operations at D-I Georgia Tech, whatever that entails. So good for him....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
