Something had to give. Can't do all sports.

"Can't do all sports" and afford a trip to Italy to play a football game.

Well, considering wrestling was dropped in 2000 when all of our sports were on a shoe-string budget and the Italy trip was in 2015 I guess I fail to see the correlation.

UST's landscape, physically and financially has changed pretty dramatically in the last 15 years. Wrestling was dropped well before the "Opening Doors" campaign when we all shared an absolute dump of an athletic facility. Men's soccer and women's hockey barely survived as well.
Yeah it was a poor idea on my part to connect UST dropping wrestling to the trip to Italy. I had just been reading up on the circumstances that lead to UST dropping wrestling and it just did not sound very kind or even believable. I still don't believe what I read and I won't repeat it.

If you'd been reading up on the circumstances they must have been published somewhere. Why not share? If they were posted on a social channel just share the link with Tom Thumb and he can post in his next batch of social media roundup.

Was hoping for an SJU football update from Frank . . .

Very appreciative to Frank for the piece, although I wish he would have answered my questions about Mike Grant being next SJU coach or why Ramler uses shotgun when the team is at the 1-yard-line.

And if anyone in the St. Cloud area is free Sunday at 1 p.m., please stop by the Barnes & Noble and say hi (and pick up a book...). Would love to see you. Personalized signatures available!

The topic is old but I found a conversation on line about it that is one year old and now that I have read it again I have to say it is probably true. I think I'll just keep it to myself. Nothing to be gained by posting it here.

6'11" American Mason Cox has been named to start in the senior side for Collingwood this weekend. He's already learned the art of the spectacular leap.

Last year American John Holmes, whose brother is a WR for the Oakland Raiders, also made his senior debut for St Kilda.

Johnny "Wadd" Holmes?

Yeah, I don't think his folks were thinking too clearly.  His brother is named Andre. So it doesn't look like they have a theme going.

If this kids track times are legit there's not a player in the MIAC that will be able to catch him.
Jesse Audelo
He's only 5'9" 165lbs.  Fritz Wadvogel was 5'9" 175 lbs.

That YouTube video is way over the top.  Very U$T-esque.

I wasn't sure which school he was going to until I saw that video.  Then everything was clear.

Sad news yesterday in MN high school and college football. Dean Taylor, long time head coach at Sartell HS and an assistant at SJU later in his career, passed away. Dean had battled a number of things over the years. He was universally respected by those he worked with and against. I remember him being a great guy around the SJU football program during my time. He'll be missed by many.
