Twins are up by a run in the bottom of the 15th inning. The Nationals have 2 outs, a runner on second and send their pitcher up to bat since they have used up all the position players.

Somehow, the Twins lose the game. Good grief.  :P

The Twinks have been particularly painful this year. They're so awful that they don't even get on TV here when they play a big market team.

Texan Mason Cox gets his first start today (he was dropped at the final selection just hours before the match last weekend, but he's been named for today's match) in front on 85k against Essendon. It's the ANZAC Day (Veterans Day) match which is always played between traditional rivals Collingwood and Essendon.

Now the speculation is on whether the import Cox will take the the opening bounce in his first match of AFL level football after playing just 21 minor league games and three preseason games in his life.  I don't often cheer for Collingwood but they'll be my pick today.

Wow.  No nerves.  First kick, in his first game, is the opening goal of the match. Huge crowd announced of over 90k.

Go Texas.

Flyers show the world what a no class bunch of goons they really are. Their fans also display amazing boorishness. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
Video?

That ain't Minnesota nice, that's for sure.

What they needed was the announcer to give the equivalent of the Hansen treatment: "I'm listing to the f*****g song!"
He was pretty upset.

The introduction, I might add, was to honor their recently deceased owner.  SO MUCH CLASS

Somehow the fact that this act was perpetrated by fans from PHILADELPHIA has been missed. I'm not sure how that happened.

I'm married to a native Philadelphian and have experienced games in Philly, and I can confidently say that Philly sports fans are the worst. I only cheer for Villanova so my wife won't throw "D" batteries at me.

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I just attended the most patriotic and stiring event I have ever witnessed at a school. The wife recommended I attend one of the ANZAC Day events in the church that St Finbar's has for the kiddies and I was stunned. It was spectacular.

It started with the video and song for this tune: Spirit of the ANZACs

And then #3 was fortunately chosen for the prime reading:

Ode of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

And then they closed with the Australian National Anthem.

As I said, patriotic and stiring. Afterwards one of my friends that was there said they often have a short speech by an old veteran (called a "digger" here, after digging trenches in WWI) but I missed out on that as there was no guest speaker this year.

What a surprisingly amazing event.

Here's the entire Hawthorn v Adelaide game. Well worth the three hours for those who are interested in good, tight footy.  With only just over 40k at the game, the MCG looks empty.

I won a trivia contest on Twitter during #DIIIWeek. @NCAADIII promised to send me some "D3 swag" for a prize. (click to
enbiggen)

My D3 swag arrived as an official NCAA Division 3 selfie stick. I'm saving the first use of this device for when the Blue Devils play at St. Thomas this fall.
.
Me, my selfie stick, and Chicago Tommie. I'll be sure to post.  ;)

And the trivia question I answered correctly? "What percentage of Division 3 schools are private?" Answer: 81% (I googled it)  ;D

Congrats, Bob. I'm happy to see one of us #winning.

And I've got to hand it to the NCAA. They could have picked no more appropriate prize for you. :o

Too far for me.
Attended a funeral for a 92 year old friend of mine yesterday. During lunch I was talking to a Katie '57 and the subject of John came up. I started to explain to another lady sitting next to me who we were talking about and she said she knew exactly who we were talking about since she grew up with that rascal in Trinidad.  :)
Small world.

We're in Stearns County opening the cabin this week and the game is a good possibility.  Would like to get there.
