... and there are a number of quality defensive players in this years freshman and sophomore classes.

I'm sure that's true, but the same can be said for U$T, SJU, Concordia, Bethel, etc.

That's all well and good (very, very good) but Gustavus' more pressing need is at defense.  If you look at the rankings Gustavus' offense is fairly highly ranked and it's defense is ranked pretty low, whereas most of the other MIAC schools offense and defense rankings aren't too far apart from each other.  They've had a few players change position from offense to defense and there are a number of quality defensive players in this years freshman and sophomore classes.    The other part of their game is the running game.  I believe that this year GAC should have a better running game which should help with clock management and keeping the defense off the field longer.

I totally agree that GAC needs to shore up its defense and develop a multi-faceted offense if they want to compete with the big dogs.

Are you guys saying if I pull up to UST in my 2007 Focus to drop my son, someone may try and redirect me to Augsburg, St. Johns or Hamline thinking I got my directions mixed up? Unfortunately I had to sell the Ferrari and Land Rover to pay this years tuition. 2 days away from being an empty nester! ;D

Oof. The Cretin/Vandalia exit is gated now, no way you're getting anywhere near campus in a Ford Focus. Probs should just find a safe place to slow down on 94 and have your son tuck-and-roll.

Oh, the humanity. Move-in day at Summitt and Cretin. http://wapo.st/2b70zaw

I actually know the Ferrari owner...funny.

I'm wondering if the fact that they were right in front of Great Falls Eye Care is relevant.

USA v AUS in the basketball is entertaining at the half but it will change in the second half. As soon as the USA start playing like a team they will demolish the Australians. AUS played a near perfect half while the USA basically played pick-up ball.

Here we go.

Edit: Turns out Kyrie Irving was born in Melbourne.  The Australian commentators are claiming that Australia is contributing 6 of the 10 starters in this game. :/

Edit II: That turned out to be a better match than I expected. It would be a good gold medal match up.

Adam Herbst has assured me that they will find a suitable tailgate location.  Homecoming and the U$T parking will be an even bigger mess this year.

If they could reserve a section of P7 or P8 (aka Mary Lot or Flagpole Lot), that would be a convenient spot.  I doubt they'd do it, but it would be great.  How about the grassy area in front of the church?

My guess would be in the overflow lots behind the Science Building.

Bought my issue of "Kickoff 2016" today from the electronic news stand. Gotta support the D3.com enterprise, plus it's fun to read and look back to as the season goes on. For 12 bucks it's a real deal plus chips.

Didn't even seem like it was a Top 10 priority to the Abbot when I spoke with him about it. I'm thinking grass in front of church.

I agree with Duff - there's not enough parking by the church and isn't that grass "sacred ground"?  The Science Hall overflow lots don't have much room for "tailgate" activities, either.  The old 'flagpole lot' and the lot south of the old tennis courts would be the best..... or.... back by the Power plant???

You find anything noteworthy to eat or drink in Duluth or Bayfield?

I really like the Duluth Grill

BDB at the Duluth Grill right now. Son visiting. UMD. Thanks for the tip
