Yeah, I considered that option and decided to take a different route. Of course there are plenty of unemployed Johnnies who would jump at the offer, but few are suitable.

Many have no experience operating motorized vehicles. Stearns County is truly lovely—reminds me of Amish country—but the carriage ride from St. Cloud to Collegeville would take far too long.

Those who do know how to drive can't necessarily be trusted to get me there safely. We'd be barreling down the back roads in an old 4X4, oversized Truck Nutz swaying in the breeze, slamming road beers and waxing lyrical about the 2003 season. As incredibly exciting as all that sounds, it sort of defeats the purpose of hiring them in the first place.

I'm not aware of any BMW shuttle services in the St. Cloud area.

IIRM http://rentmypartybus.com/ had a party bus to go from St. Thomas to St. John's last year.  Just buy a ticket and then drink to your hearts content.  Once you're back in St. Paul take a cab to your hotel

Staying downtown near SCSU is where there is a large concentration of bars.

Is the job market so poor for you Johnnies that you're out there washing cars to get by? Good on you for keeping hope alive. If you keep your nose to the grindstone, and do a good job (don't skimp on the wax), maybe your kids could be Tommies someday. A real-life Horatio Alger story...
