Is that one serious? Isn't it available in MN?

Serious?  No.  Available in MN?  No.  I have in-laws in Northern VA that introduced me to the swill last summer.  "Lawn mowing beer" is what my BIL calls it.

Frank Rajkowski did a live chat on the interwebs (http://www.sctimesapps.com/conversations/page.php?id=890). A comment that caught my attention:

That makes this week pretty critical. I thought - just my opinion - coming out of spring that Jackson Erdmann and Ben Alvord were the top two contenders. I still think that. Obviously, Gunnar Anderson is the most experienced. And Matt Miedtke did some nice things during the spring.

Duff, maybe you could translate what your brother in law means by "lawn mowing beer."

Edit: I found this definition:  Low alcohol, high refreshment -- these are the things that make a great garage-kept lawnmower beer.

Mr.MIAC

I see National Bohemian (Natty Boh) as comparable to PBR. In fact, it's sort of become a thing in DC for bars to offer a "beer and a shot for $5" as the all day happy hour special. More often than not the special includes a can of Natty Boh/PBR and a shot of Old Overholt Rye Whiskey. Neither are all that spectacular on their own, but for some reason they go well together.

The fact that PBR (weak, watery, tin-flavoured) became the hipster counter-culture status symbol pretty indicts the entire hipster movement.  When the wife and I got married in '92 back in GR a few of her Aussie buddies came for the wedding. They couldn't believe they could pick up a case of PBR for $6. "Weak as piss but it's cheap."

I could bring you some PBR in February...

My buddy's mother in-law says something similar about Coors Light. She says "it's like making love in a canoe....yea,it's f*#%ing near water"  ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

PBR and Hamm's tall boys are great ice fishing beers too.

Speaking of beer, rumor has it Concordia is thinking of relaxing their dry-campus policies

Yeungling Traditional Lager.

Meh.  So much hype, but it's nothing special.  Bring some Dogfish Head!

My thought exactly on Yeungling.  It's better than the bud / miller category, but not by much.

Dogfish Head is fantastic!  Enjoyed several varieties on a family trip to FL last spring.  Wish it were available around here.

It is better than your Bud/Miller, Coors, and it's comparably-priced, I think, so that's where it shines.
