... no one's happier to see Scott graduate than the Royal's D!!  ;)

No kidding!  He had good numbers against everyone, but he really seemed to be able to slice up BU's defense particularly well.  Even in his (Scott's) freshman and sophomore years when they lost, he played well, and the games were very competitive, and his sophomore year was against one of the better teams that BU has ever fielded.

I've said it before, but man, I would have loved to have seen what he could have done with a more  balanced offense, and a defense that could stop the other team occasionally.

My oldest daughter was #1 in her class.
That is something to be proud of Old Auggie.

Ha!  Makes me laugh every time. I may need to watch Animal House again.

I'm not sure about the second vote, but I think you should pay Coach Caruso more respect by using his full title: Saint Glenn of Greenwich.

Any clarity from the UST scrimmage or any other source as to who the starting Tommie QB will be in week 1?
I've heard the job is Perra's to lose, but I'm not sure what weight was behind that suggestion.

I haven't seen much other than the MIAC Camp Tour video that was recently posted. In the video, it looked like Fenske was running with the first string and Perra with the second string. But I'm not sure how much can be deduced from a 3 minute video with a few plays. There is another scrimmage tonight at 6pm at UST. I'm sure a starter will be named soon for week 1.

What was interesting in the video is that it looked like Jordan Roberts was on the training table in the background with a lower leg injury. Looked like an ankle, but tough to tell. Might be something to keep an eye on. In Roberts' absence, Trettel was running with the first string and freshman running back Emitt Peisert was getting some reps with the second string guys.

Erdmann will he the start next Saturday.

That's exciting.  Let's hope he and the rest of the team click well from the first snap.  It's only five weeks and four games until the Johnnie/Tommie showdown.

You or anyone going to the scrimmage tonight?
Is it at O'Shaughnessy? I'm tempted to drag the kids over there to run around after dinner. I did enjoy watching Trettel run last year, and sat right in front of his dad (chatted with him quite a bit) for the Linfield game when Roberts broke the rushing record. That was pretty cool.

Lots of great content from Frank at the SC Times this time of year. He's doing his team by team previews. First up is STO.

http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/football/johnnie-football/2016/08/25/sju-blog-miac-previews-st-olaf/89379254/

EDIT: By the way, the SC Times has a year-long subscription special for online viewing at only $9.99. I would buy it but they only accept US credit cards. They don't even accept PayPal. There are ways to get around the subscription firewall, of course, but I would prefer to support Frank a little with his great content.  Same reason I bought Kickoff so I could help keep this site going.

No, unfortunately I live in Las Vegas so I don't get to see UST play much in person. Looks like the scrimmage will be at UST.  Have fun if you decide to go!
