Erdmann will he the start next Saturday.

http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/college/2016/08/26/sju-start-erdmann-qb/89403738/

I'm excited for the Erdmann Era!  :o

Every time I read his name the Seinfeld episode in which Elaine eats J Peterman's cake and tried to replace it with an Entenmann's cake flashes in my mind.  That episode was probably recorded before Erdmann was born. I don't want to look that up.

Surprisingly not!  "The Frogger" first aired 4/23/98 and Erdmann was born 1/20/97.  :o

Colin Kaepernick has the right to express his opinion by not standing for the National Anthem. I have the right to stand up and cheer every time an NFL defense puts a major beat down on him.

Agreed. Though the way he's played, and not played, this pre-season you may not get much of a chance. Especially given his obvious desire to leave all last off-season.

UST released their 2016 roster: http://www.tommiesports.com/sports/fball/2016-17/roster.  One name that stood out was Gopher transfer Josh Parks.

One has to wonder about a guy who has bounced around as Parks has.

We were joking around at PT this morning (tore my ACL 3 weeks ago  >:(), when you can't beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting QB job, you might not be arguing/protesting from a position of strength!

Another item of note:
U$T has only 23 sophomores listed on their roster.  Does that seem low to anybody else?
SJU has 60...which I think is about 15-20 more than a team might need.

Those numbers are low for a soph class.  35-40 would be more the norm.  Heard there were more than a few kids that tapped out during camp these last two weeks.

Any idea how many freshman they had last year and how many actually returned to start practice this year?

Just looking at their published roster they had 45 freshman for 2015 (so those who stuck it out during camp last year) and 23 of those freshman don't show up on this years roster.  About a %50 attrition rate.

I just keep imagining the face plant his agent must have done when he found out. Voicemail should have gone something like this....

"Hey, idiot. You want out of San Fran? You're trying to make the team and fans hate you more after your off season antics? Fine. Just remember you still want to go somewhere else. Now they hate you too and unless you are really good, like the way you weren't last season, you aren't worth the animosity. Why don't you pick your nose up off the ground and glue it back on and try not to cut it off to spite your face next week? Thanks."

No idea.  Counting freshmen is often a challenge.  Some kids are invited to camp, some are invited to start practice when school starts.  Some dress for home games, some don't.  Some are listed in the program, some aren't.

What no math majors in the athletic department or football staff or is it that they only have 10 fingers and 10 toes so they can't count above 20.  Here's a hint...invite all the freshman to early camp and put them all on the roster!!!

Thanks AO!  Your work coming up with the lines, and weekly scoring is appreciated!

RE: Parks - I had the same thought, as well as with the SJU player (can't remember his name at the moment?) who went to UMD, then Cord, now SJU.  After more than 1 transfer, one starts to wonder if it is the individual who will have a difficult time "finding the right fit" at any institution, rather than a college just "not being the right fit".

Hope the best for both of them, and that they can settle in and get a quality education.

Now to come up with my wrong answers for week 1 of pick 'ems....

Any clarity from the UST scrimmage or any other source as to who the starting Tommie QB will be in week 1?
I've heard the job is Perra's to lose, but I'm not sure what weight was behind that suggestion.

I haven't seen much other than the MIAC Camp Tour video that was recently posted. In the video, it looked like Fenske was running with the first string and Perra with the second string. But I'm not sure how much can be deduced from a 3 minute video with a few plays. There is another scrimmage tonight at 6pm at UST. I'm sure a starter will be named soon for week 1.

Word I heard was that the job is actually Fenske's to lose. He's been lights out and the staff has tons of confidence in his ability and knowledge of the offense. This isn't to say that Perra won't be good when he's got the chance. But my source has it that unless Fenske stumbles, he's the #1. Maybe it's smoke and mirrors, but I think it's pretty solid.

You're referring to Adam Essler.  I guess time will tell in both instances.

I watched Fenske last year at the AUG game and the kid looked very solid. Stood tall in the pocket and had a lot of poise.
