Even though it's not D3, there are many in the MIAC who have had the great pleasure of attending the youth and/or BigMan Gopher camps and working with Mike Sherels.  He's truly a great guy and many of you are aware that he's been gravely ill recently.  There's a recent article in the StarTribune that goes into his illness deeper - WOW http://www.startribune.com/mike-sherels-is-the-strong-survivor-friends-and-gophers-teammates-knew-he-d-become/392804731/

A couple interesting factoids from Frank Rajkowski's blog notes:

* Fasching's 28-7 record in his first 35 games as head coach at the school is the best in school history. John Gagliardi was 23-11-1 in his first 35 games after taking over in 1953.

* Jackson Erdmann came out on top in his debut as the Johnnies' starting quarterback last week, snapping a streak of four-straight losses by quarterbacks making their debut start.

Now he just has to sustain that pace for the next 60 years.

Anyone looking for English football -rugby-this weekend, head out to VFW Memorial Sports Complex (7350 Quaday Ave NE, Elk River, MN 55330). The All Minnesota tournament. SJU is there, along with Bemidji State-where my son plays. Crazy game!
SJU is away-so there is no excuse. 😄

Say hello to my nephew, Austin Peterson (plays for Bemidji) if you head there...  Bob and Cindy so he'd know who you are talking about

Any idea why the Tommie roster is sortable by every category but Hometown/High School?
http://tommiesports.com/sports/fball/2016-17/roster?sort=last_name

Could it be that they are struggling to recruit Minnesota kids?  From my calculations only 25 of the 45 freshman listed on the roster come from Minnesota...25!!!  Meaning 44% of the U$T freshman are kids from outside Minnesota.  Maybe the online roster only lists those in the F.A.M.I.L.Y. that got invited to come to the pre-season camp?

In comparison 44 of the 64 freshman listed on the SJU roster hail from the Gopher state.  That's 31% of the SJU freshman players that are from outside the state.

One would think after a run to the D3 title game Minnesota kids would be clamoring to play at $t. Thoma$???

I guess another view would be that both U$T and SJU each recruited 20 freshman from outside Minnesota and that the face of football in the MIAC has changed.

Maybe there's something to this or maybe not....pondering????

I haven't seen any roster sortable by hometown/high school. Would never have considered it before you mentioned it. May not be available on PrestoSports sites.

If you can sort by height, weight, number or position...why not hometown?

BDB

They keep advertising the new Barbara Streisand channel on Sirius XM radio. I'd rather be water boarded than listen to that.

I bet ten bucks you'll find this hidden in BDB's garage on the shelf above the tool chest.

I guess they replaced my classical channel which they dropped. I probably will not renew.
On the bright side, Chi-Hi routs Old Abe's at Carson Park.  Nice even for this old Mack/Johnnie  :)
