I bet ten bucks you'll find this hidden in BDB's garage on the shelf above the tool chest.

One would think after a run to the D3 title game Minnesota kids would be clamoring to play at $t. Thoma$???

I guess another view would be that both U$T and SJU each recruited 20 freshman from outside Minnesota and that the face of football in the MIAC has changed.

Maybe there's something to this or maybe not....pondering????
Combo platter faunch. Perhaps some MN H.S. coaches have cooled off to St. Glenn's style. Perhaps St. Glenn & staff's top recruits on their board are from other states. Maybe other MIAC teams have stepped up their recruiting efforts & it's not free pickings for UST (I'd say this is #1). Blame it all on St. Olaf for the Florida pipeline they created in the early 2000's. Other MIAC schools caught on that there are players from other states that don't mind the frozen tundra to get a great education & play 4 mores years of football.

**Side note: I spoke to an Olaf alum this past week, whose son was a player within the past 3 years and it looks like some of that "choir money" will be redirected to athletics and a group of former athletes are donating money directly for athletics. Olaf could be back in the hunt very soon.Developing.........
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Three quarter time and Geelong lead by 2, 68-67.

Is that some new Johnnie math?  ;)

Sorry, Oz, couldn't resist.

Solid first half for the Johnnies.
They need to figure out what happened in the second half ASAP.  They can't be fall asleep like that once the conference season begins--especially in two weeks when the Toms come to town.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Straight up embarrassed by the way the Knights played today in the first half.  It's gonna be a long year!

Amen to that. I hope we have better Stretch with replays next week. At least, I didn't get replays today and the camera work was mediocre.

Cobbers looked alive today in contrast to last week. Gave up a cheesy late TD on a 4th and 10 that went awry for the defensive backfield, costing the shutout of Eau Claire. Still can't kick an extra point or field goal, but they showed enough to indicate this won't be a lost season. Looking forward to MIAC competition.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Was at the UST - Stout game today. 57-17 victory, but my sentiments are similar to last week. We've got a lot of work to do if we are going to make a deep run.
The stat sheet doesn't really show how we won handily with 175 yards passing and 138 rushing. Roberts broke one for 26, but otherwise looked just ok.

What a rough start for the Auggies season. All I can manage to salvage for this year is the young team is gaining a lot of experience that will help them win games in the future. As far as this current season; they need to find a way to beat somebody.

That really is one odd stat line for the Tommies. Turning 313 yards of total offense and 14 first downs into 57 points? That is efficient if nothing else! Obviously the defense getting 4 takeaways, including a pick-6 must have been huge.

Looks to be a long year for the Royals. The weak spot is definitely the secondary. #16 didn't give up any long tds like last week but I think he was so concerned about getting beat deep that he gave up too big of a cushion. I think the first 3 passes that went his way today went for 36, 22 and 24 yards. The rest of the secondary didn't look much better. The tight ends down the seam were open all day long.

Bethel played a good first half, leading 28-12 at halftime, due in large part to a pick 6 and a blocked punt that gave the offense the ball inside the 10. The second half the defense wore down and gave up 22 points and the offense couldn't do anything until the final drive of regulation where they tied it up but then missed the extra point. Carthage then won it in overtime on 2 running plays right up the gut that they ran all 4th quarter and Bethel couldn't stop. Carthage had close to twice the possession time at about 40 minutes to 20. Maybe the new no huddle offense is hurting the defense more than helping the offense.

At this point, I guess I would rather see them get Trey Anderson some more experience at qb as it appears they aren't going to be contending for anything this year. I didn't think Dzurik was very accurate with his passing today and they were only able to gain 65 yards on the ground.

On a side note, I thought it was odd on a play where Carthage was throwing a screen pass and it hit one of the linemen in the back but no penalty was called. It should have been an illegal touching penalty but nothing was called other than an incomplete pass. It's hard to believe all the refs didn't see that or that none of them knew it should have been a penalty.

I haven't seen any roster sortable by hometown/high school. Would never have considered it before you mentioned it. May not be available on PrestoSports sites.

That's...odd. Every E8 team except Morrisville has a roster you can sort by hometown and high school. The first two schools I looked at in the LL (St. Lawrence and Union) have it as well.

It looked like the run game was a little better yesterday compared to last week. Roberts was getting 3-4 yards a pop. If you look at last year, the first two games for the OL are almost identical. The run game really didn't take off until week four. They have to keep working on it, but it was nice to see some improvement. With that said, the pass protection has been solid. They have only given up one sack in two games.

Perra is starting to look like he's more comfortable in the system. The offense moved pretty well when he was in the game with the second string guys. He had a few great throws. It will be interesting to see if he moves ahead of Fenske in the next few weeks.

I noticed there were at least six freshmen on the field when Perra was running the offense. Waldvogel recently made a comment that this might be the most talented freshmen class he's seen since he's been at UST. He might be right.
