It's a great piece of real estate, and it is nice that it is untouched. One of the few spots on that side of the road along the river. It just doesnt get used much by neighbors or students.

Sounds like a great place to take a dog to do its business.  ;D

The tennis court issue was a HUGE kerfuffle. I've never understood why people who move next to a college campus get all up in arms about everything. Not much different than moving next to an airport and complaining about noise pollution.

RE: Attendance

This again? The only reason UST fell below a 4000 average for the regular season was the home finale was against Carleton, where even the players were so bored they started doing Harlem Globetrotters tricks just to pass the time.

UST's regular season home attendance average last year was 3869, with no real marquee games outside of Bethel. Their Homecoming game was the most well attended.

Mount Union's regular season home attendance last year was 3033.

UST's attendance average was good for 10th if you include the playoff games, better than the CATDOMMMMMMMMME (which isn't even in the top 30), UMHB, UWO, Wesley and every other halfway decent D3 team sans SJU and UWW.

Concordia is ahead of UST for 2015 but they had Jamestown (local school close by), SJU, Bethel and UST all at home.

It appears Clemens stadium's official capacity is 7500. O'Shaughnessy is only about 5000.
Obviously, stadium size is driven by need. Just found this interesting.

As a criminal defense attorney there's nothing I haven't seen, but the aftermath of this as an alleged victim/player/coach/teammate has got to be just a horrible thing to deal with. Unfortunately, there's going to be a few jokes made which just goes along with the stigma of being a male victim of sexual assault, but this is just as dis-concerning if it was a male football player and the victim was a volleyball player or cheerleader. Sexual assault is sexual assault.

Nothing a head coach wants to sit the team down and talk about, but he probably should make it clear, that anyone making light of that kid's situation will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Tough spot to be in when dealing the alleged aggressor as well, but there's no due process rights afforded to being on a college football team.

Similar to an incident that happened on Concordia's campus in the mid 2000's. I feel like there was an athlete on the victim side of that case as well.

What a mess for the victim. Not a problem a football coach probably anticipates having to face in their career I would imagine.

Mr.MIAC

Damn, now that's a disturbing story. I also think the way it's reported seems a little strange. Consider the following paragraph:

The man said he was heavily intoxicated and passed out in [the suspect's] dormitory room when they returned to campus. When the man woke up, he was missing his pants and noticed [the suspect] fondling his genitals and giving him oral sex.

I'm not sure "noticed" is a sufficiently strong verb in this case, given the severity of crimes being committed. There are plenty of situations where the use of "noticed" would be appropriate. For example, a change in the weather might call for the following usage, "I noticed that the weather forecast calls for snow today so be sure to wear your jacket." Sounds fine to me.

In this case, the use of "noticed" sounds way too casual, borderline nonchalant. It's not like the victim woke up, decided to take a little gander down south, and just happened to notice--as you do--a sexual assault in progress. I'm thinking the discovery of your teammate giving you oral sex warrants at least a "horrified to find" and maybe even a "subsequently beat his a$$."

Fortunately, in this day and age, these situations are generally handled by the proper authorities.
Looking back to my time, there usually was no due process and taken care of by the peer group whether athletes or general population. Not saying it was right, just telling it like is was. Hopefully society will keep learning how to deal with these things.

In all the football I've watched in my lifetime one thing I never thought I'd hear.

Tonight Baylor vs Rice on an officials timeout, referee announces "Attention, ladies & gentlemen please refrain from shooting lasers onto the field. Thank you"

Since idiots have for years tried to blind pilots with lasers, I'm amazed that moronic fans didn't think years ago to try to blind opposing QBs or WRs. ::)

I just saw a nice video of tmerton's son, former Johnnie standout John Stanton. John is still living in Japan, getting paid to play pro ball but now he's a championship captain of the top side in Japan. Johnnies doing well in the world. Always good to see.
