I just saw a nice video of tmerton's son, former Johnnie standout John Stanton. John is still living in Japan, getting paid to play pro ball but now he's a championship captain of the top side in Japan. Johnnies doing well in the world. Always good to see.

Thanks Oz, That was outstanding. It brought back some happy memories with the Stanton family.
Great video  :)

How do you "just happen" to come across a video like that?

Ah yes, tmerton. Another name from the past that doesn't swing by to say hello anymore.

OzJohnnie

I bumped into Clark on LinkedIn tonight and asked how things are going (well, he said) and when I asked about his son he gave me a link to the video.  He says he flys out for a Johnnie game every year so a few of you probably say hello to tmerton at the Stiftungfestivities.

Ok. You "bumped into" Clark on LinkedIn. Yeah, that's way more common than coming across some random Japanese football video.  ;D

Although John is no longer coach, I dusted off his bobble head for conference play.   ;)

What a weekend of football in the MIAC.  The Johnnies and Tommies dominated like expected.  Bethel lost three in a row ??? while Condordia maybe can play a role still.  And Gustavus bumped off Augsburg to maybe show the spirit for a third place finish. And Augsburg continue their Thelma and Louise finale finish with the graduation of so much offensive talent.

So next week.  Johnnie/Tommie week for all the marbles.  Heh.

I'm glad I had my Stress test last week.  ;)

Q. Santa Clause, the tooth fairy, a humble Tommie, and an old drunk are walking down the street together when they simultaneously spot a $100 bill. Who gets it?

A. The drunk, of course, because the other three are mythical creatures!

Q. What's the difference between a Tommie and a trampoline?

A. You take your shoes off to jump on a trampoline.

The Bethel secondary was much improved today giving up only 77 yards passing, but the rushing defense didn't show up and gave up 232 yards. The defense played well the first half with the score tied at 7-7 at the half, but for the third game in a row they have not looked good the second half. I am also surprised with Bethel's rushing offense the last 2 games, getting only 69 yards today. With no threat of running, the offense is pretty much one dimensional, especially with the immobility of Dzurik at qb which makes it much easier to defend against.

At this point I see no reason why they shouldn't start Trey Anderson at qb and give him some experience. There just isn't any good reason to continue to play Dzurik. At least Anderson can move in the pocket and is a threat to run which was displayed when he played in the 4th quarter after Dzurik was injured.

I'm up at Trout Lake Camp at a men's retreat and caught most of the first half of the game and was glad to see the Royals tie it up and tried to threaten at the end of the half. Then I had to go fly some rockets (I led the building workshop in the morning) and just got back to my room to check scores. Ugh.

And at the half Augsburg was up 10 to zip - what happened there?

And the Tommies and the Johnnies cruised.

Gonna be a long year for us BU fans.

Actually 13 to 0 at halftime Art76. GAC adjusted a bit and ran the read option effectively, giving the ball to the rb who broke a long run right after halftime.  I was well distracted today while at the Walk to defeat ALS but I did manage to see a few plays on my phone. Curiously enough GAC started the qb from Tennessee and neither of the QB's from Princeton or Sartell played as far as I can tell. Augsburg started Sam Keiss and not Guyton and Keiss had the Auggies moving but GAC caught on in the 2nd half and beat up AUG pretty good.

Dear Art, I'm afraid you are gonna have to hand over your man card. Sorry.

I was thinking the same thing but he did mention building rockets. If the weekend also involved fighting robots and "lasers" then he maybe he's on to something.
