The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

Here's a question for the Johnnie hive mind: If SCSU had prioritized football instead of hockey would the SJU football fanbase be as large as it is today?
About as much as Indiana basketball affected Notre Dame.  :)

A drunk Tommie co-ed was stumbling down the street with one foot on the curb and one foot in the gutter. A cop pulled up and said, "I've got to take you in, miss. You're obviously drunk" The wasted Tommie co-ed asked, "Ociffer, are ya absolutely sure I'm drunk?" "Yeah, young lady, I'm sure," said the cop. "Let's go." Obviously relieved, the Tommie co-ed said "That's a relief - I thought I was a cripple."

Just for UST Bench.Full disclosure, I took this from an online joke website and inserted "Tommie co-ed" in the appropriate spots.

Screw ST Johns and ST be Dick's...it's TOMMIES  Johnnys week!!!!

Maybe everyone else got this ChicagoTommie reference right away, but I couldn't wrap my brain around it. "ST be Dick's." WTF?

And then I got it. ST be Dick's = The College of St. Benedict in ChicagoTommie speak. I need that CT translator we used to have around here.

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the term C and E Catholics. These are folks that only make it to church on Christmas and Easter.
You may not be familiar with J and T Catholics, however. These are"fans" who only show up for the Johnnie-Tommie game.

I get a text tonight from one of my seven sisters in law who "was wondering" if I had some extra tickets for the game Saturday? I replied that our seats are occupied and our friends behind us are occupied. Gee, I'm not aware of anyone with reserved seats that won't show up this Saturday. There is always general admission and they never sell out. Get in line behind 15,000 others, but you better get there early if you don't want to miss kick off  ;D

How early would you suggest we need to get in the stadium to get decent seats? We'll be arriving early for tailgating, but I've not been to a T-J game since 2004, back in the days when the Johnnie smokeshow actually happened on the field and was not confined to just this discussion board.

TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR SATURDAY'S JOHNNIE-TOMMIE FOOTBALL GAME

Long story short, the ticket office opens at 10am.  SJU recommends you get on campus by 11am.

I would suggest getting in the ticket line by 8:30AM.

We will be at our tailgating spot by 5:30AM. There will be people with RVs setting up tailgating on Friday afternoon/evening. It's going to be out of control if the weather cooperates. Long range forecast is for afternoon thunderstorms and temperatures in the 70's. Can you imagine if they have to clear the stadium for lightning?

I've seen that, but that doesn't really answer my question.

We aren't going to be up there until 9:30am, but we'll plan to send somebody to get tickets while we get the tailgate setup.
Tickets are GA though (and they say they won't sell out), so I imagine we need to get in to the stadium at a decent time so as not to end up standing? Crowded in somewhere less than ideal (like by a bunch of smelly Johnnies who will be rude and angry when things don't start to go there way)

The visiting stands didn't completely fill up until maybe 30 minutes before kickoff last year.  But I'm guessing everybody who missed out on a seat last year might learn their lesson and come earlier?

Perfect. Thanks. I'm guessing with no SC on the Road there are going to be a lot fewer UST students, and probably fewer Tommies in general. I was figuring we'd move in around noon. Or maybe have a couple go in earlier to snag some seats.

I think your biggest problem, jtT, will be parking and then getting up to the stadium. With all the construction I think even more parking will be pushed down to the fields. And then with the tailgating in Flynntown all the foot traffic will be coming up from that way. No one will be lining up at the eastern entrances by the science lots.

I guess I'm saying, I would be most worried about parking and getting up to the stadium. That little traffic jam could add 30 minutes to your trip.

Gah!  It's only Wednesday. This is always the longest frickin' week of the year.
