If I recall correctly, that's three Johnnie QB concussions in the last three games against the Tommies.  What an amazing coincidence!

I'm no statistician, but I believe there is probably a pretty strong correlation between a QB getting sacked numerous times and concussions. We've sacked your QB 11 times in those games.

Football absolutely has an issue with head trauma and concussions. It's a rough game. My wife was in a car accident 16 months ago and is still recovering from a concussion she received, so I don't take that lightly.

I understand that the narrative is that UST's players are intentionally taking cheap shots. Perhaps the narrative should be extended to include SJU's offensive line being unable to protect it's QB from sacks.

Tracking this for a longer period of time could be fun. I'd wager it would produce similar looking data.

Re: penalties and intent to injure.

No one can know for sure what a player's intent was on a late hit or a hit that leads to an injury. We'd all like to think no player or team takes the field with an intent to cause actual harm to an opponent. At the same time, in all levels of football, certain teams and players do start to take on a reputation for questionable, if not dirty play.

If what CT says is true, Glenn might want to preach even harder about not only the number of penalties his team is taking, but also the type.

SJU 8-87
Personal Foul, Holding, False start, Roughing the passer, Roughing the passer, Unsportsmanlike (Jordan Young), Personal Foul, Delay of game

LaVerne 6-66
False start, Holding, Holding, Personal Foul (Trouccolo), Personal Foul (Jordan Young), Rouhging the passer (Knight)

GAC 6-70
Pass interference, Illegal Block, Holding, Encroachment, Facemask, Personal Foul (Dummer)

Car 7-82
Offsides, Personal Foul, Holding, Unsportsmanlike conduct, Roughing the passer, Holding, Illegal cut

They have certainly gotten their moneys worth over the last four games. Unfortunately the UST play-by-play doesn't indicate the offender for most of these. Young is the only guy who shows up twice - in back-to-back weeks. Maybe everyone else has been sent to the bench for being liberal with their after whistle behavior.

Rube's Tommies barbs are actually pretty mild. Just wait until he doesn't have family playing for them; he'll really be unleashed!

Re: Caruso checking the message board and/or running the UST Football Twitter account.

I think the Tommie supporters and his good friend, Pat, are right about this. I can't think of anything in the way Glenn carries himself that would hint at him wanting to be a part of every aspect of his program.

It's not like he is in the middle of the lead pack when the team enters the field, goes up on the shoulders of fans after they rush the field, created a "tradition" of ringing a bell, wrote a school song that is sung after wins, gets placed on the 1 of rival's logo during a photo for two straight years, holds an open audience each Monday night with supporters (and in the process throws message board worthy thoughts out), has narrated weekly YouTube videos, and spent time taping weekly Locker Room coaches shows.

Someone who participates in all of those things would maybe be interested in monitoring conversations and posting tweets but anyone who isn't wouldn't subject themselves to the noise of message board and social media chatter.

I notice many coaches do a number of those things. I would say 90% of coaches storm out of the tunnel and onto the field with their team each home game. And that same percentage do numerous coaches show throughout the week. UWW does it.

But I admit, somethings he does would probably get under my skin as well.

Yeah, those are all good points that most anyone would accept as the reality of DIII football nowadays, at least at the competitive programs. That being said, you're missing the point. You see, the problem is that good old John Gagliardi--the patron saint of folksiness--would never have done these things so somehow they're unacceptable. In reality, at least in his later years, Gagliardi didn't run out of any tunnels most likely due to his worsening arthritis (nothing wrong with that of course) and the availability of a heated booth. I'm not sure what the deal is with Fasching. Regardless...there's nothing to see here...let's just move on with the narrative...

I've railed on the highlighted part to friends and those around me at games for the last few years. We've had a lot of stupid penalties and I'd love to see that get cleaned up and have guys playing a bit smarter. I imagine that is a tough balance to strike, as you want guys playing aggressive but also smart. Given the number of times we've been penalized for this stuff, if our coaching staff was intentionally coaching guys to cheapshot, it is pretty stupid and doesn't pay off. Risk-reward as Caruso likes to say.

The penalty issues we've had are definitely related to our aggressive style of play. Suggesting anything more is fine, if you can back it up.

I should also note that 90% of what I say on here is intended to be taken lightly. I probably come across as more serious as what I intend.
On another forum, it has been suggested that jamto means "just airing my thoughts out"

I can accept the fact that Caruso is a crazy, east-coast, Italian coach. I appreciate that he's OUR crazy coach above all.

I'm sure an assistant runs the team Twitter account, and I would be surprised if Gene really *reads* the boards. You don't have to read the board to write a joke about trolling!

I'd bet Caruso runs the account, without a doubt.

I would be really surprised. Not his style.

Wow!  Really?

Seriously Pat?  How much is UST paying you?

I think there's about a dozen SJU fans on this site that would disagree with you on that.

  ;)   ;D

+ K,    :-*

I understand that's the case, but I'm not sure how many of them have actually spoken to the guy on a regular basis.
I get all my GC related information from faunch. He lives in the neighborhood, he talks to GC,he even coaches GC's daughter in softball. That,in my opinion, is credible. How many of the UST backers interact with GC on that basis? Not many,I'd bet   :o

You kind of prove my point. Posting on a message board or posting on Twitter is something an assistant coach would do, for sure, rather than the head coach.

@ WalterEagle- follow the conversation. Pat C. said Gene (UST SID doesn't read the board) Pat C. also asked how many have regular conversations with GC. My response was that faunch,a SJU poster, lives in the neighborhood & coaches GC's daughter in softball.

I believe Bethel will win today if Erdmann dosnt play 8-) and the Tommies won't cover the spread.
