I believe Bethel will win today if Erdmann dosnt play 8-) and the Tommies won't covear the spread.
You are correct CT! I called that one as well.

What's the word on Bethel these days?  I know DBQ hung 70 on them in week one, but is that a real indicator of what they will be for the rest of the season?

It seems like they haven't had much of a problem scoring points (they scored 53, 34, and 44 so far with a season low of 13 against Concordia). Is it just that the 2016 version of the Royals have no defense?

I hope this week isn't a trap game/Johnnie-Tommie hangover for the Johnnies.

Unfortunately, I don't think you Johnnie backers have too much to worry about tomorrow.  The defense has improved over week 1, so I don't think SJU will be putting up 90, as Duffman suggested, but skilled passers can still really move the ball effectively on them.  Even if it is a slightly injured Erdmann, or whoever QB2 is for SJU, I think they'll be able to score effectively.

My expectation for score would be somewhere in the range of 45 - 17, though that would require a field goal on Bethel's part, so I'm really putting myself out there.  45-20 might be more realistic, as three TD's, one with a missed PAT is probably more likely.

Should be pretty good weather for those in attendance, though I will not be, as a home improvement project that is butting up against the pending arrival of child #2 is taking priority.

42-27...I'm a bit disappointed that the spread wasn't covered, but pretty close to my 45-20 prediction..  Johnnies seem to have more speed than in recent years in their skill guys?  Bummer that BU had so many turnovers, might have made a game out of it.

Time to spend some time outdoors on this gorgeous day...

Sorry I missed the game. I had an unexpectedly late night and couldn't pull myself out of bed at 5am to see the game.

Go, Johnnies. Nice win.

I'm sure an assistant runs the team Twitter account, and I would be surprised if Gene really *reads* the boards. You don't have to read the board to write a joke about trolling!

I'd bet Caruso runs the account, without a doubt.

I would be really surprised. Not his style.

Wow!  Really?

Seriously Pat?  How much is UST paying you?

You kind of prove my point. Posting on a message board or posting on Twitter is something an assistant coach would do, for sure, rather than the head coach.

And you kind of prove my point.  That is correct, for MOST programs...probably not the case for GC's program.

No, not quite. Or at least not entirely alcohol induced. #1 was invited to a party and Mrs Oz was out having dinner with some friends so I had to stay up until #1 got home. Sure, it was only 11 but I'm getting old. I was shot this morning.

I was at the St Thomas homecoming game today. Defense looked great. Offense failed to punch it in in the redzone a few times. My ability to focus on the game was severely limited by the jamlets and we ended up leaving in the 3rd or 4th to go to the bouncy house on campus.

It was a great Grand Final on the weekend. Hard, fast and physical from the opening bounce to the final siren. Tight the whole way with a swag of lead changes. Neither Sydney nor the Western Bulldogs would quit and the winner was the side that could run the furthest and hit the hardest for the longest. It's not until there are just a few minutes left that the winner emerges.

Any thoughts on Perra?  From what I saw, it looks like he is running the offense a little more efficiently the past few times he's been in.  I've been impressed with his mobility and ability to throw on the run.

Roberts appears to have had surgery on that left knee to repair his meniscus.  What a bummer.  Any rumors on if he will take a medical red shirt and return next season?

Jack Newell, Chris Pierson, Matt Beck, and Johnny Heller did not play against Augsburg.  Sounds like Beck should be back next week.  Sophomore CB Michael Franzese stepped in for Pierson and had a nice game. Not sure about Newell and Heller.  Newell tried to come back in during the St. John's game, but limped off the field.  Heller had his arm in a sling. Hopefully they will get healthy soon.

A few other rambling thoughts, I continue to be impressed with the freshmen this year. Vinny Pallini looks like he will be a stud. Looks like they are grooming him to fill Waldvogel's role in the offense next year. Matt Lehmann looks like he will be a good receiver as well. Perra seemed to like throwing the ball to those two.

-2 net rushing yards for the Auggies, and the UST offense ran more plays (88) than Augsburg gained in net offensive yards (84). Another Pick-6 for Alada, and it really should have been two. A great day for the defense indeed.

Go K Nights

Well after Creighton was finally benched and turned into a receiver the Knights are in the win column!  Hopefully they can compete over the next 2 weeks and then bring home the Goat against St. Olaf!

I had a wedding yesterday so could not attend the Johnnies vs Bethel game, but was able to listen to the 1st half.
Looking at the box score it appears that the Johnnie D did a number on Bridgeport Tusler - 7 carries for 16 net yards 1 catch for 3 yards. Was the Johnnie's scheme that good or was Tusler out/injured for part of the game?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I didn't see much of Perra yesterday other than one drive. He has continued to look better and better and definitely has more mobility than Fenske (my pet turtle does also).

Roberts is out for the season, and supposedly they have applied for a medical redshirt, although I'm not sure how that works with NCAA D3 rules given that he is already a 5th year senior.

Newell's injury against SJU was apparently somewhat serious. From what I gathered, he will be out for a while. I think Pierson should be week to week and it will be nice to have Beck back.

Pallini, Vik, and Iverson have done a nice job when given their chances, in addition to Reed and Waldvogel. Waldvogel was certainly more prominently featured in the game plan this week than he had been.

Medical hardship seasons have definitely been granted in those types of cases, but I have no idea how often or how automatic it is.

Looked like it was maybe a shoulder injury on a punt return that put Tusler out. He had not done much and was giving ground on the return on the play he appeared to get hurt. The video caught him coming off with a limp arm ... and later carting from the field. Looked very -- and understandably --  frustrated. Tough to see.
