Rev, what are you Googling in order to find that?

I'm picking up a UST-related gift for a friend and decided to check Amazon. I searched "University of St. Thomas" and it was one of the items that popped up. I wonder how much it would cost to launder through the UST laundry butler service.

I searched St. John's University Johnnies and only found a book written by an acclaimed sports author....but at least you've got a pair of dark panties to hide racing strips and other bodily secretions...with your logo on the ass crack.   ;D

This is going to sound awful but the Johnnies have got to put up about 63-70 against the Auggies today and hold them to no more than 7.  Really need to start climbing up in the rankings and the only way to do that is to put the wood to the Auggies and Carleton the next two Saturdays.

I disagree. Spanking Aug and Car like we're Tommies won't help us really. The best we can hope for is that the wiac teams beat each other up and the second place wiac has a surprise loss to someone else in their conference. If Linfield were to drop a game somehow then we could finish third in the regional rankings.  But basically, all we can focus on is winning and then hoping a couple other results to go our way.

I'll probably regret bringing this to the fore, but you find some interesting items on Amazon:

Now that's interesting. The Brits have unusual(to us Americans) terms for other common things as well. None of which I will go into here. Even in American English there are words that mean completely different  things, can be used as a noun or a verb, but are spelled the same. As George Carlin famously said " You can prick your finger...."- you know the rest  8-)

How bad of a drop was it for Concordia on the near-interception right before the winning TD? Should have been made or was it a tough play?

Cobbers must lead MIAC in brutal losses past 10 years. The Gearman bomb. There were a few other SJU ones, all of them in Concordia. This one. And the most infamous vs Bethel in 2012 with the kid coming onto the field after Cobbers had clinched, drawing a flag that extended game and led to Royals win.

But yeah, as much as I enjoy Tommie losses, this was good for SJU, right? Say Cobbers had one and then Tommies win out. Then say SJU beats Concordia at end of the year. In 3-way, Concordia would have gotten automatic bid, right, with longest time since playoff appearance? And Tommies get in over SJU.

Point differential between the one-loss teams would have to be tied before using thing the longest time since a playoff appearance.

Concordia appears to be improving but I'm wondering if the Tom$ came in a little flat today.  Should they drop out of the top 4 because of this game?

USTBench

UST had multiple drives stall inside the Cobber redzone today, one on the 1 yard line. Fenske and the WRs played well today but the ground game was almost non existent. Concordia's DTs pretty much had their way with our OL and neither Trettel or Parks had much room to make anything happen. This was the most physical football game I think I've ever seen. Concordia's defense is right up there with anyone in the nation. I don't know what happened with Jamestown, but that's a Top 25 team if I've ever seen one. They're big and very punishing. I could see the Cobbers winning out.

Cobbers made a lot of bizarre mistakes. They almost had their TD called back on the hook and ladder because of a sideline interference. Then pick up a personal foul on the two point conversion. They were amped up, big crowd, homecoming, but their emotions cost them multiple times with silly penalties.

My summary of the Johnnies this season: very good, fast, small and they have the fumbles.  It's the fumbles that will get them.

brutally bad. Easiest INT you can dream of. Bad throw, right to the FS who was running towards the QB/Ball and watched it the whole way. Kinda wonder if he saw all the grass in front of him and took his eyes off it last second.

More physical than UST vs. BU in the playoffs in 2010?? that remains the most physical D3 game I've ever seen in person

The "near-interception" was doable. Defender got both hands on the ball, but from his crossing position it seemed his intent was to get in position to swat the ball instead of thinking pick. Of course, I can't really say. It was an emotional moment, and I'm sure he'd like to do it over. That said, it was good coverage and a nice break up of the pass. Cobbers looked good, but are more one-dimensional this year than I have seen for quite some time. Heartbreaking loss, but wow...what a game!
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Cobbs made their fair share of mistakes but there was some questionable officiating throughout the game.  The "white hat" was slow all day and then threw the penalty on Herzog after the two-point conversion.  From our vantage point he was throwing the ball back to the official.  The official wasn't looking and it hit him and he overreacted. What would Herzog have to be upset about?  They just scored on a miracle play against a top 5 team. Unless I missed something, I believe this was very questionable - especially considering the situation.  What's really bothersome is that Coach Caruso was allowed to sprint to the five yard line to scream at not just one official but seemingly all of the officials after the goal-line stand.  He was simply escorted to the sidelines w/o a flag.  Maybe they are scared of him, but at no point does it make sense to allow a coach 25 yards of leeway to scream at officials.  Selective enforcement causes problems.  Regardless, it was an exciting game.

Yeah, that PF was strange. Couldn't tell if he was throwing it at a Tommie and just missed badly (but was the reason for the flag) of if it was a toss to the ref and he took offense. If it was the latter, that's an egregious PF, especially at that point in the game.
