Ha ha Oz!  No Nobel prize for me today, but I did get a free lanyard with my name embroidered on it from the St. Cloud school district for 19 years of service.  It's pretty sweet. Congrats to Bob, he is my all-time favorite!

He gets $900K and you get a lanyard with your name embroidered.  He's my all time favorite too.  I've lost count of the albums and cds of his I have.  Probably 90% of the music on my IPod is his.

Sources say Tommie/Johnnie moves to Target Field next year.

I agree - not my idea of a good spot for the game. But you would get an accurate count of attendees.

Agreed. Even if we set a new D3 record, it's going to feel empty. I'll go for the spectacle of it, but it's not ideal.

Sure the sight lines will be weird, sure the seats won't all be full, and sure it'll be off campus and weird in that regard, but holy cow why not embrace that a local MN D3 match up could even be considered for a venue like this?  I think it's pretty darn cool.  Here in Chicago, D3 football isn't given any attention by local media and something like this could never happen.  Tip of the cap to St Thomas and St John's that they could pull this off.

I hear that.

But a big part of the Meh factor is that for decades the MIAC used to play games in the Metrodome. Granted a terrible venue compared to Target Field, but we know what it's like to have a great crowd dwarfed by a much larger venue.

Let's say this thing just takes off and they get ridiculous numbers, say 30,000. That would be an incredible number for this game. And it'd still leave the stadium massively short of capacity.

That, and football games played in baseball stadiums are just weird and usually involve a situation where a good number of the fans aren't very close to the action.

EDIT: Case in point, look at the terrible sight lines from the recent soccer game. No one is close to the action. The great part about D3 football is the intimacy of fans and players.

Yeah, it's basically great publicity for D3 but not great for watching or atmosphere.  I am personally more interested in the rumor NDSU might be there in 2018 because they have a better chance of filling it up

Don't get me wrong.  It's cool that it gets that type of attention, and I'll go, but it's going to be relatively empty.  And how much are they going to soak us for tickets?  Part of the fun of the rivalry is packing people into a D3 stadium.

Maybe they could put up some temporary bleachers in center field if they went with this configuration.  The people in those seats and the end zones would see a major improvement over their previous seats at Clemens and O'Shaughnessy that were separated from the field by a track.  Target Field must be offering a better deal than US Bank Stadium.

I don't like it.  I think attendance will be disappointing.  If they want to do something like this I'd prefer TCF Bank over Target Field.
