I don't like it.  I think attendance will be disappointing.  If they want to do something like this I'd prefer TCF Bank over Target Field.

Is that the Gopher stadium?  I went to a game there lest season (I think, hard to remember when I was home last) and it was a nice spot.

You boys are forgetting about the beer machines.  8-)

Speaking of beer, the fun nazis almost ruined my day at the Gopher stadium. They ID everyone and wouldn't accept me foreign drivers license. They wanted a passport.  What idiot walks around with a passport to a football game?  Luckily, the girl serving beer had great sympathy as my days of being mistakenly considered under 21 are long behind me.  My friend bought two, handed them to me and bought two more as I stood there.

Yawn to Target Field. Happy that it's UST giving up their home game. I imagine they are looking to make it a PR spectacle. This is a move to get Gameday/ESPN, FSNorth's attention.

I imagine the dislike and support of it will follow party lines. UST fans will love it and be all for it. If you're a Johnnie supporter, and know how great a small college football atmosphere can be, you're not going to like it.

It would be cool for Division III but obviously you guys nail it about the sightlines. Won't be the best way to see a game but it would be the only way the Tommie-Johnnie game sets an attendance record outside of Collegeville. And it would be nice to get more of the regular Twin Cities community in attendance.

Why, is it too hard for the regular Twin Cities community to get to a D3 game now?

No, but they wouldn't have any real interest in most of them. The novelty of playing it at Target Field will bring out people who don't have a rooting interest, I'd think.

It's interesting as a one time thing. I remember the MIAC Classics at the Metrodome and loathed the atmosphere there, which had everything to do with the vast majority of the seats being empty. I much prefer this spectacle:

OldAuggie

I've said it before but I played in the MIAC vs NSIC Classic back when the dome was very new. Atmosphere sucked but the Bemidji State fans really enjoyed themselves. The Beaver fans made signs and cheered loud but it was still too big and plastic. I am guessing this Target Field idea might have a better feeling than the dome had only because it is outside and on grass. Goes without saying that I would rather play in front of a packed house at Clemens stadium or at UST 10 out of 10 times. Sometimes a team has to make some sacrifices to showcase the product, so overall I think it will be good for the MIAC especially if they bring in some bleachers. Sounds expensive.

As far as TCF they might have a schedule conflict with the Gophers and the stadium/field is branded U of M so playing a MIAC game on U of M branding would be kind of janky if you ask me. Go ahead and paint the grass at Target field and brand the game as the Tommie - Johnnie game. Not like the Twins are going to be playing there in October........

Jacque Perra already said no to playing at TCF Bank once.

Yeah, I would probably go if only for the novelty of it.  Beats the hell out of watching Mac play a conference game that isn't Saint Norbert or Monmouth

Say what you want, at least I don't have to leave the stadium to get a cold one now.

I'd go as well.  I've never been to a SJU - UST matchup as I'm not interested enough as a 3rd party fan to deal with the hassle of getting to either campus with how full they are for the regular season matchups (when I can just watch it online, or at least try to), but this would get me to go.

Agree that it isn't ideal, unless they put up some extra seating along which ever long side of the field that will be away from the existing seating, which I doubt they'll do.

Maybe I'm wrong and the players would just prefer to play at their home stadiums, but I'd have to think they'd think it would be a good and fun experience?
